$65,000 to $75,000 depending on experience

Overview:

We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Purchasing Specialist to join our team in Columbus, IN. The Purchasing Specialist will be responsible for managing procurement activities, supplier relationships, and inventory levels to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services. The ideal candidate will have strong negotiation skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to optimize procurement processes in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Procurement Management: Handle purchasing activities for materials, supplies, and services, ensuring the best price, quality, and delivery timelines.
- Supplier Relationships: Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, prices, and terms to achieve optimal agreements.
- Inventory Control: Monitor inventory levels and reorder points to maintain adequate stock while avoiding overstock or shortages.
- Cost Reduction: Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements in the procurement process, without sacrificing quality or service.
- Vendor Evaluation: Evaluate supplier performance regularly based on quality, delivery, and pricing. Manage vendor selection and qualification processes.
- Purchase Orders: Prepare and process purchase orders, ensuring accuracy in terms of quantity, price, and specifications.
- Market Research: Conduct research on market trends, pricing, and suppliers to stay updated on procurement best practices and new sources.
- Compliance: Ensure that all purchasing activities comply with company policies, legal regulations, and ethical standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments such as production, finance, and logistics to meet the company's procurement needs efficiently.
- Reporting: Maintain and update procurement records, prepare cost analysis reports, and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to purchasing.

Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, or a similar role.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of procurement principles, negotiation skills, and supplier management.
- Software: Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, etc.).
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with vendors and cross-functional teams.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze market trends, supplier proposals, and purchasing data to make informed decisions.
