The Bioanalytical Research Group (BAR) at Lilly Corporate Center in Indianapolis is seeking a skilled mass spectrometry scientist. The role involves developing innovative methods for assessing therapeutic peptides and small molecule drugs. The team collaborates with toxicology, PK/PD, Biotechnology Discovery Research, and various therapeutic areas to identify and characterize optimal drug candidates for clinical testing across multiple modalities.

Responsibilities:
  • Implements LC/MS-based assays using high-resolution instruments to quantify and analyze therapeutic peptides and small molecule drugs across various matrices. Responsibilities include preparing stock solutions, extracting samples, conducting LC/MS analysis, and writing reports
  • Maintains research notebooks in a well-organized manner where all necessary documentation is recorded
  • Collaborates with the principal investigator to offer scientific expertise to program teams. Provides guidance on structural elucidation of peptides and small molecule drugs, ensuring compliance with GLP guidelines.
Basic Requirements:
  • BS or MS in biochemistry/molecular biology, bioengineering, biology, pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry or related subject area
  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience
Additional Skills/Preferences:
  • Experience with analytical techniques such as HPLC, LC/MS, and sample preparation procedures including SPE, LLE, PPT
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong work planning, record keeping, and data analysis skills
  • Industry experience in clinical chemistry or pharmaceutical sciences applying mass spectrometric techniques to measure therapeutic peptides and/or small molecule drugs is considered beneficial
  • Knowledge of MS-informatic approaches to interpret complex data sets a bonus
