About this role:
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides a range of medical services to patients under the supervision of the Site Medical Director and other physicians. They adhere to established policies and procedures and state guidelines and obtain a collaborative agreement with the physician or Medical Director. The NP also provides required documentation of services, notifies the Medical Director and H.S.A. regarding changes in schedule coverage, and assists in arranging coverage of medical services.
What you bring to the table:
Education
Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing; Advanced Degree in an approved and Accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
Experience
Previous correctional/detention facility experience
Minimum two (2) years' experience
Licenses/Certifications
Unrestricted and Current License, Certification, or Registration in State of practice
Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration
Current lifesaving BLS and PALS (where applicable) certification through AHA
What you will do:
Conducts on-site chronic care clinics and sick call as established by Site Medical Director, Health Services Administrator, or designee.
Provides emergency treatment on-site and responds appropriately in urgent or emergency situations.
Prescribes a planned regimen of total patient care, which is adequate, problem-oriented, and appropriate to the needs of the patient.
Supports standards of medical care through adherence to existing policies and procedures.
Reports any doubts or questions regarding the lack of appropriate referrals, nursing or medical intervention necessary for the realization of established patient goals to the Medical Director or Health Services Administrator for disposition.
