Job description
Position Summary:
Responsible for maintaining and improving the reliability of the plants electrical distribution system, improvements in the refinery electrical infrastructure, developing Electrical Standards, and designing expansions and improvements as the refinery changes and grows.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to the following):
Forecast, budget, plan and execute all future projects for the refinerys electrical improvements.
Design and layout electrical equipment upgrades, while complying with OSHA, NFPA, and NEC standards.
Maintains electrical engineering documents and databases.
Develop, plan, and maintain the Refinerys electrical infrastructure plan.
Develop Electrical Standards
Maintain and update the electrical equipment criticality data base.
Establish sparing philosophy for electrical equipment.
Develop preventative maintenance procedures and activities for electrical infrastructure and electrical equipment; develop predictive programs to ensure reliability.
Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Assessments (FMEA).
Lead Root cause Failure analysis for electrical equipment failures.
Update Electrical One-Line drawings for the refinery and field audit for accuracy.
Oversee the refinery Tanks and piping Cathodic Protection bimonthly testing and annual site testing.
Prepare evaluation criteria for electrical engineering and design contractors and assist with contractor selection.
Review vendor prints, shop drawings, and field installations for compliance with contract documents and applicable national codes.
Ensure compliance to electrical area classification for electrical equipment in Refinery.
Support Refinery turnarounds (TARs) and maintenance activities.
Oversee 5-year Arc-Flash studies.
Oversee annual transformer oil testing and analysis of the results.
Coordinate PdMA motor testing during TARs and TAR maintenance on the Electrical MCCs.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to the following):
Participate in Hazardous Operations Safety Studies/Reviews for projects.
Provide Safety Design Reviews for all Electrical work/projects.
Job Qualifications (refers to job, not incumbent):
Education: Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Experience: 10+ years of electrical engineering experience, preferably in maintenance role in power supply or the oil and gas industry or similar process industry.
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations: PE License, preferred.
Other:
Comprehensive knowledge of the overall electrical distribution system and its operations.
Thorough knowledge of the operational procedures to provide the best results for sizing and testing electrical equipment.
Knowledge of the construction, operation, uses, materials, methods, and equipment used in the operation, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment.
Ability to prepare complex technical reports.
Capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office platform.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
High level of motivation.
