Duties & Responsibilities + Safely transport students around the district to cross-campus courses. + Consistently perform thorough and accurate pre-trip and post trip inspections + Affect a calm temperament and caring demeanor around children from a variety of cultural backgrounds and economic circumstances. + Possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential. + Must be willing to support Davenport's multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for both behavior and academics. + Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully. + Accept and implement coaching and training. + Maintain a cooperative attitude and build rapport with students, peers, supervisors, parents, school personnel, and the community + Use effective and professional verbal and written communication skills + Maintain a clean, safe and presentable interior and exterior of the vehicle. + Maintain accurate records of student ridership. + Maintain current knowledge of all student requirements, such as medical protocols, IEP's, etc. and respond appropriately to events by following written protocols + Ensure students are properly secured in required safety equipment and restraints. + Accurately complete reports and paperwork in a timely manner. Including, vehicle maintenance requests, student behavior referrals, timecards, directions, etc. + Abide by federal law, state law, and district policies, procedures, and expectations + Utilize technology when required + Immediately report accidents + Ensure vehicle is properly fueled according to department policy + Report any safety or maintenance concerns to appropriate personnel in a timely manner + Report all moving violations to Transportation Manager, including any received while on or off the clock + Clean van as designated by department procedures + Other duties, as assigned Qualifications: + High School Diploma or equivalent + Must be at least 18 years of age + Obtain and maintain a minimum of a valid Class D3 Chauffeur's license + Must possess and maintain excellent driving record meeting MVR background check. + Successful completion of a school bus driver course. + Work well with others, including all personality types + Effective problem-solving skills + Knowledge of, or ability to navigate, Davenport + Have and use effective verbal and written communication skills. + Must pass and maintain all DOT physical requirements. + Successful candidate must possess strong inter-personal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students. + At least two years of professional driving experience. + Experience working with children from a variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
