What It Takes to Join the Farm Bureau Financial Services Underwriting Shared Services Team:

Please be prepared to illustrate the following and provide examples:

• Prior Property & Casualty insurance underwriting experience.

• A positive individual with a demonstrated passion to learn, develop, and improve systems and process efficiencies.

• High level of prioritization skill working on multiple priorities.

• An individual that is analytical and enjoys problem solving.

• Demonstrated work toward Property & Casualty industry designations is preferred. Including, but not limited to, the Associate in Personal Insurance and Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU).

• College degree or seven years of relevant experience.

• Valid Driver's License and the ability to travel and/or stay overnight as needed. Minimal travel is required.

• Prior experience working with external vendors preferred.

• Prior project related work experience preferred.

• Proven experience working between multiple business areas preferred.

• Business report writing experience preferred.

What You'll Do: The Underwriting Shared Services team at Farm Bureau Financial Services is the home office team that supports our eight-state business unit underwriting teams. This team works primarily with personal lines property and casualty insurance with some involvement in Farm/Ranch and/or Commercial lines depending on the project. Underwriting Shared Services is committed to sound underwriting fundamentals that are achieved through underwriting best practices, philosophies, strategies, and procedures necessary to achieve corporate and state business unit goals.

Day-to-day responsibilities will involve, but not be limited to:

• Responding to and resolving internal and external customer service requests.

• Monitoring reinsurance bordereau reporting, treaty exclusions/exceptions so that all are appropriately reflected in underwriting best practices, policies and procedures.

• Writing and development of system update release notes.

• Updating and developing new material for the underwriting reference manual.

• Development toward subject matter expertise in a designated area relating to the core systems and strategies of Underwriting Shared Services.

• Represent underwriting shared services and contribute in cross-department projects.

• Assist in developing training programs or communications designed to keep agents and underwriting staff consistent and in compliance with underwriting best practices, company guidelines, state/federal rules and regulations relative to Property/Casualty products and services.

• Research, evaluate, design, implement and manage internal and vendor-based solutions to improve overall property and casualty underwriting performance.
