Job Title: EHS Coordinator
Location: Harlan, Iowa
Salary: $55-65K plus bonus
Job Summary of the Environmental Health Safety Coordinator: The EHS Coordinator position will provide full-time environmental, health, and safety support to manufacturing operations. It will ensure that operations follow local, state, and federal regulatory requirements and policies. The position will be responsible for coordinating regulatory programs and related permitting applications. The position will be responsible for developing and coordinating training programs in support of our Zero Harm vision/policy.
Qualifications of the Environmental Health Safety Coordinator:
Associate degree (A.S.) in Environmental, Safety & Health or business (or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.)
Safety and health professional training/certifications
Workmans Compensation Claim and Case Management training.
OSHA Compliance certification
ISO 14001 and 45001 internal auditor training
Responsibilities of the Environmental Health Safety Coordinator:
Practice safe working techniques and reinforce the EHS policies, guidelines, and procedures.
Provide daily guidance and direction in EHS programs.
Responsible for assisting in the identification of possible losses and evaluating the risk in such loss exposure.
Work with IT/Maintenance/Operations personnel to ensure that contractor personnel working on the property are in compliance with policies and safety requirements.
Work with personnel to create, implement, maintain/update as needed.
Assure that safety policies and procedures are utilized and trained against on a regular basis so they are understood and followed.
Provide advice, assistance, and auditing guidance to the operations management team to ensure that effective EHS practices and procedures are implemented and working.
Perform and contribute to training plans by conducting or delegating to others:
o Job specific EHS related training (safety, health, or environmental training)
o Coordination of modular training programs for the operations group (ex. STOP training, or Blood Borne Pathogen training)
o Annual OSHA required and CX-WA annually required safety training
o ISO 14001/45001 required training
Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and controlled so deficiencies are minimized and corrected.
Maintain all documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements
Assist with maintaining the Emergency Preparedness Plans & Procedures, including required BCPs (Business Continuity Plans)
Responsible for coordinating with the Operations team on regulatory programs and their applications, and helping support the compliance process.
Accountable for researching and writing permit applications and work with EHS committee and key operations personnel to ensure compliant in completing permit reporting requirements.
Responsible for coordinating ISO 14001 and 45001 external registration/surveillance audits with Quality Manager (so they are completed in coordination with ISO 9001 audits).
Responsible for scheduling and conducting ISO14001 and 45001 internal audits and reporting on results and coordinating corrective actions personnel.
Manage EHS based audit process and risk assessments and regularly conduct training needs analysis with EHS Committee auditors.
Work with the Human Resources department on documentation and management of all workmans compensation claims and cases.
Lead the Emergency Response (1st Responders) Teams
Assist operations with Crane and Forklift operator training.
LOTO Maintain active/accurate machine lists (coordinating with operations) so when new equipment is purchased and installed machine-specific LOTO procedures are created.
Upkeep of Fire/Evacuation maps as necessary
