Young Farmer Event Management & Communications Intern - May 2025 - May 2026

Do you have an interest in and knowledge of the agriculture industry? Are you well-versed in social media (Facebook, Instagram & X), including graphic creation? Do you consider yourself organized, detailed, and able to take ownership of planning events? If so, our Young Farmer Event Management & Communications internship could be a great opportunity for you!

What You'll Do: Iowa Farm Bureau is looking for a responsible, resourceful, and innovative student to enrich the Young Farmer Program, as well as other leadership and business development efforts for our members. In this internship, you will help support the Young Farmer Program's mission to provide education and networking opportunities to young farmers, as well as support the leadership program's mission to develop and assist volunteers for the county Farm Bureaus. This includes running the Young Farmer Program social media, planning state events and activities for our Young Farmers, and assisting with other Young Farmer and leadership meetings and conferences as needed. In addition, you will assist with our Ag Leaders Institute, County Leadership Conference, Acres of Opportunity Conference, Marketing & Branding Workshops, Take Root Workshops, and more. There is also an opportunity for you to help with our Young Farmer awards and contests like Discussion Meet, the Grow Your Future Contest, and the Young Farmer Leadership Award. In this internship, you must be available during the following:

• Young Farmer Advisory Committee Meetings (June 13-14 & December 9, 2025, and January 23, 2026)

• Young Farmer Day at the Iowa State Fair (August 9, 2025)

• Young Farmer Tailgate at Iowa State University (tentatively August 30, 2025)

• The Iowa Farm Bureau Young Farmer Conference (January 23-24, 2026)

• Acres of Opportunity Conference (February TBD, 2026)

What It Takes to Join Our Team:

• Be a current college student (Junior or Senior preferred) who wants to pursue a career in agriculture, working towards a degree in marketing, management, business, communications, or a similar field.

• Must have a passion for agriculture!

• Experience with social media (Facebook, Instagram & X), including creating graphics.

• Must be a self-starter, take initiative, and be highly motivated.

• Extremely organized, detailed, and able to take ownership of planning events.

• Strong communication skills, both written & verbal.

• Be able to work full-time summer 2025 (May - August) and part-time (min. 12-15 hours/week) fall 2025 and spring 2026 semesters.

• Work from our office in West Des Moines, Iowa.

• The position requires some travel, weekend and evening hours, occasional overnight stays.

• This internship pays $16/hour
