Bus Driver Job Classification Pay grade level: N/A Compensation: $18.50 - $20.00 per hour, actual salary will be commensurate with and experience. Employee category: Staff Position Type: Part-Time FLSA status: Non-Exempt Position Details Job Code: SA015PTNBUS Department: Athletics Division: Student Affairs and Enrollment Management Reports to: Director of Athletics Positions Supervised: NA Location: Primarily at Main Campus, but any location assigned by the appropriate administrator Job Purpose The bus driver is responsible for safely transporting student-athletes, coaches, and athletic trainers to athletic events or other college events on an "as-needed" basis in College-owned commercial vehicles in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner. The bus driver is scheduled on an "at-need" basis according to KCKCC Athletics schedules. (Multiple positions) Position Description Responsible for driving a college-owned bus and providing safe and efficient transportation to the events/activities of the College. This includes, but is not limited to, following state and federal transit regulations, maintaining the trip schedule as outlined by the requesting departmental staff, communicating effectively with passengers regarding weather conditions and vehicle status, and making decisions on drivable conditions to assure the safety of passengers. Responsible for conducting pre-trip and post-trip checks on the vehicle and its special equipment to determine if there is sufficient fuel supply and if equipment, such as steering gear, brakes, and tires, are in good working condition. Responsible for the timely completion of necessary driving logs. Meet emergencies following standard operating procedures, such as the safe evacuation of vehicles. Comply with all pre-employment, randomized, and post-accident drug testing requirements. Fuel vehicles when needed. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics aligned with College strategic priorities and goals. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a culturally diverse organization. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to record maintenance logs in a timely manner. Ability to understand and follow safety procedures. Ability to exercise good judgment and extreme caution while driving. Ability to maintain valid certification as bus driver according to state regulations. Ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to perform required duties safely and effectively. Position Qualifications and/or Education Minimum Qualifications and/or Education High school diploma or GED equivalent. Must possess Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class C or higher with passenger endorsement. At least one (1) years of experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified is required. Preferred Qualifications and/or Education Two to four (2-4) years of commercial/ event driving experience. Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, walk, sit, and occasionally push or lift items. Work Schedule Assigned up to 29 hours per week, during regular hours of Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Must be able to work a variable schedule/hour to meet operational needs.
