Job Summary:
About Us: Kinsley Drug offers a range of services such as medication synchronization, compounding, vaccinations, nutritional supplements, and collaborative partnerships with long-term care facilities and local providers. As a pharmacist with us, you will have the unique opportunity to gain experience in ownership duties, multistore management practices, and all the responsibilities associated with rural pharmacy practice.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
_ Vaccinations _
Provides immunizations including influenza, RSV, and shingles vaccines, and diabetes education including how to use testing meters, insulin.
_ Pharmacy workflow analysis _
Properly dispense, order, and maintain proper inventory of drugs, devices, and supplies, including controlled and dangerous substances pursuant to all state and federal laws
Direct activities and workflow efficiency of Pharmacy Clerk(s), Technician(s), and Deliver Drivers(s), always seeking to improve processes to grow business.
_ Staff management _
Oversees the activities of pharmacy technicians, clerks and delivery drivers, maintaining their work schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
_ Medicare consulting _
Review, select and maintain appropriate Medicare part D plan coverage for individuals residing in State Operated Programs that optimizes prescribed medication regimen with fiscal consideration.
Activities include conducting patient outreach to complete comprehensive medication reviews and medication reconciliation, medication related quality gap closure, activities supporting transitions of care, provider consultation and other activities related to medication-related outcomes for our attributed populations, including SQCN and SACO (Commercial, Medicare, Medicare- Advantage, and Medicaid).
_ Inventory management _
Implements policies and procedures for the safe procurement, storage, distribution and use of drugs and biologicals, as well as disposal of drugs.
Effectively operate and maintain automated drug dispensing machinery.
_ Compounding _
Reviews prescriptions to ensure accuracy, to ascertain the needed ingredients, and to evaluate their suitability. Provides information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage.
Assesses the identity, strength, or purity of medications. Compounds and dispenses medications as prescribed by physicians by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients, or overseeing these activities.
_ LTC consulting _
Coordinate pharmaceutical services with long term care facilities, in collaborative with facility leadership and staff.
_ Medication fulfillment _
Evaluates physician medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, potential interactions, and route of administration. Makes recommendations for therapy changes to the physician and facility staff as appropriate
Maintains patient/resident database to include appropriate current and past medical history, appropriate clinical and laboratory data, and concurrent medication (including over-the-counter and home remedies)
Ensures that appropriate laboratory tests for monitoring certain high-risk conditions are ordered, evaluated and discussed with appropriate members of the healthcare team
_ Compliance packaging _
Performs compliance audits as instructed by the Owner/Operator of the Pharmacy
_ Collaboration with other medical providers _
Educate LTC facility staff, including the Director of Nursing, Medical Director and Administrator when new therapeutic interchange programs are implemented and perform specific functions required of therapeutic interchange programs.
Serve as a liaison between Kinsley Drug and long term care facilities to monitor, act on, and resolve any pharmacy related issues
Participate in community outreach and education initiatives related to wellness, preventative care, and the benefits of integrative health practices.
Provide empathetic, knowledgeable patient counseling, including lifestyle and wellness advice that complements pharmacological interventions.
Adheres to Kinsley Drug's code of conduct.
Education and/or Experience:
Pharmacist license in the state of Kansas
Experience with pharmacy software such as ComputerRx preferred
Strong knowledge and experience or willing to learn in the listed responsibilities
