What You'll Do: As the CAT Claims Manager, you will oversee the CAT team who provides immediate response to catastrophic storm events to investigate, evaluate, negotiate and settle claim assignments involving homeowner, farm, and commercial risks. As a CAT Claims Manager, you are key to the coordination of our storm services, resources and timely response for our client/members, agents, and business units. Not only will you lead, support, grow and develop the catastrophe team, you will also be responsible for innovation of the team by evaluating how we can continue to improve our processes and increase client/member and agent satisfaction.

What It Takes to Join Our Team:

  • College degree or equivalent plus 8 years of relevant experience is required. 2 or more years previous leadership/management experience required.
  • Progress towards industry education expected. Associate in Claims (AIC) designation and 4 parts of the CPCU designation is required.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of construction, estimating, and estimating systems involved in the handling of property claims.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills to work across boundaries and build relationships at all levels within an organization.
  • Strong customer service skills are required, including solid verbal communication and business professional writing skills.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills required.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and analytical ability.
  • Must be able to climb onto ladders, roofs, and other structures to inspect damage and lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
  • Valid drivers' license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record are required due to travel (30-40%), with travel as high as 90% during storm season to effectively handle catastrophe claims in the field.
  • On-call availability is required, with the ability to deploy at any time with the potential for being out for extended periods including weekends.
  • This position can be located in the state of Iowa, state of Nebraska, state of Kansas, eastern South Dakota or southern Minnesota.
