Job description
Duties As a SECURITY SPECIALIST (UNIT DEPLOYMENT MANAGER), GS-0080-09, you will manage deployment and logistical assets to ensure productive and effective utilization of materiel funding and requirements for all Security Forces tasks and responsibilities. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment KANSAS NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. ELIGIBLE FOR SITUATIONAL TELEWORK ONLY, INCLUDING EMERGENCY AND OPM PRESCRIBED "UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK" Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance within one year of appointment. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required. Duties/responsibilities of job may significantly impact the environment. You are responsible to maintain awareness of your environmental responsibilities as dictated by legal and regulatory requirements, your organization, and its changing mission. Incumbent may be required to work an uncommon tour of duty to allow full participation in all integrated base defense, security, resource protection, and anti-terrorism program exercises. Must undergo initial and periodic job compatibility assessments. Must pass initial formal law enforcement training school as determined by functional manager (NGB/A7S). Must obtain and maintain current required certifications in self-aid buddy care and first aid. Incumbent must be qualified in the use of required weapons. Qualifications Military Grades: E1 through E7 Compatible Military Assignments: 3P0X1 GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk level. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Must have at least 24-months experience, education, or training in planning, directing, coordinating, and controlling installation and law enforcement activities. Knowledge of logistics management principles, organizational theory, and techniques of analysis and evaluation. Knowledge of standardized logistics practices and procedures to conduct studies to identify, analyze, and recommend solutions to problems in structure, staffing, procedures, work processes or workload distribution. Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration, and resolution of program related issues and problems. Knowledge of supply regulations and directives sufficient to establish organizational logistics management policies and procedures. Knowledge of required logistical actions sufficient to develop and maintain training support and deployment plans. Knowledge of local supply and Security Forces requirements to ensure support for materials. Knowledge of the operational aspects of the organization sufficient to advise senior leadership of actions necessary to sustain or improve the logistical posture of the organization. Knowledge of logistics accountability sufficient to monitor, review, and inspect logistical requests, receipts, and pending transactions in accordance with command supply and maintenance discipline programs. Knowledge of one or more automated supply databases to retrieve, review, and analyze logistical data on an ad-hoc basis or through recurring and specialized reports. Knowledge of logistical readiness factors and the effects that equipment availability, serviceability, and compatibility have on the overall logistics readiness of the organization. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Works on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries tools, parts materials, and equipment that weigh up to 10 pounds. May occasionally handle items that weigh up to 50 pounds. Specialized material handling equipment is available for heavier items. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is generally done in areas that are well lighted, heated, and ventilated. May work inside in areas that are drafty. The work is often dirty, dusty, and greasy. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises and to conditions requiring use of personal protective equipment (steel toe boots and gloves).
