Job description
This position is for Tank Connection's sister company, ATEC Steel located in Baxter Springs, KS. ATEC is an industrial contractor specializing in the design, fabrication, construction, and testing of shop-built tanks and vessels, as well as field-welded, above-ground steel storage tanks.
Position Summary: The Business Development Manager will be instrumental in increasing the company market share, ensuring consistent, profitable growth in sales revenues through positive planning, deployment, and management. The individual will be qualified, ambitious, and can identify objectives, strategies, and action plans to improve short- and long-term sales and earnings.
Business Development Manager Duties and Responsibilities:
- Always represent the company with high moral standards while adhering to the company's "Code of Business Conduct & Ethics".
- Thorough understanding of the storage tank industry, its competitors, its clients, and the areas of work and competitiveness.
- Develop new growth through effective relationship building with current and prospective clients.
- Review and negotiate Terms and Conditions with the clients to assist in closing the proposal or contract as required.
- Follow up with clients on bid status and lessons learned with the intent of solidifying contracts.
- Assist in expediting the resolution of any clients' concerns or complaints.
- Develop new sales strategies with management to pursue additional revenue channels.
- Research market trends and follow industry publications to determine current and future markets and growth potential.
- Maintain good people skills and a positive work attitude to set a precedence of enthusiasm and energetic atmosphere.
- Maintain company developed CRM system and coordinate input of information as required from management to keep it up to date.
- Participates in trade shows and conventions.
- The job will require flexibility to travel to client offices, conferences, or job sites for purposes of bid walks, sales, and negotiation meetings, as well as to corporate office as needed.
- Perform additional responsibilities as directed.
Business Development Manager Experience and Qualifications:
- 5+ years' experience as a Business Development Manager in the oil and gas industry preferred.
- Strong personnel and management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; with the ability to effectively communicate complex commercial or technical information.
- Excellent computer skills, including demonstrated proficiency with MS Office (Word/Outlook/Excel) and CRM systems and ability to type adequately with reliable accuracy and proper grammar.
- Ability to multi-task, and work on multiple projects in varying stages at a time.
- Able to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with people in the course of work.
- Knowledge of industry standards related to storage tank industry.
- Knowledge of API 650, 653, AWWA and ASME codes is preferred.
- Associates/Bachelor's Degree is preferred
Business Development Manager Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of Business Development Manager, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Business Development Manager Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of Business Development Manager, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
