Job description

Duties Direct police patrols and coordinate the overall law enforcement program for the installation. Plan work assignments and schedules personnel to ensure successful accomplishment of assigned missions and responsibilities. Ensure emergency responses by police personnel are dispatched in accordance with installation requirements. Review police reports, forms, and records for compliance with Army and local regulations. Serve as a police officer to reduce threats of violence, apprehend violators, and enforce state and federal laws and Army and local regulations. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Required to pass a pre-appointment and subsequent periodic medical / psychiatric evaluations to determine their ability to perform the essential functions of the position and take annual PATs. Immunizations, such as Hepatitis B, may be required. This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing. Required to perform and pass semi-annual qualification testing with firearms (pistol, rifle, shotgun, etc), and observe applicable safety precautions, as required. May include night firing, with one hand, or while under time or physical stress. Must meet individual reliability and suitability standards prescribed by the Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program (AR 190-56 and AR 380-67). Requires working rotating shifts, to include weekends and holidays, and may be required to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime. Must be able to pass an annual Physical Ability Test (PAT) and perform the essential functions of the position to standards published in AR 190-56. Must possess and maintain a valid state Motor Vehicle License and obtain and maintain local government driver's license. TDY up to 5% may be required for Academy Attendance or Police related missions (i.e. AWOL Apprehension, etc ). Work may require flying on commercial or military aircraft for Police related missions (i.e. AWOL Apprehension, etc). Incumbent must be able to act in the capacity of a first responder to critical incidents, including but not limited to: criminal acts, natural disasters, lost or missing persons, mass casualties, and/or acts of terror or mass destruction. Must be prepared to execute the lawful orders of critical incident commanders, military or civilian, assigned duties as such. Duties, even if performed properly may place the incumbent in danger of severe personal injury, loss of limb, or even death. Must carry assigned duty weapon; have the capability of rationally applying the continuum of force; and use deadly force if necessary. Incumbent must successfully complete a Police Officer Field Training Program within one year (12 months). Incumbent may be subject to recall in emergency situations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. During non-duty hours/days, may be required to report as a member of an emergency response force during actual or simulated accident/incident. Position is designated as Mission Essential position during Inclement Weather Conditions or other designated emergency conditions. Incumbent must continue to perform the duties until relieved by proper authority. Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance. This is a Key Emergency Essential Position. The incumbent cannot be an active member of the Reserve or National Guard subject to military recall. See "Additional Information" Section for additional conditions of employment. Managing Human Resources Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
