Position Summary

This position provides direct speech-language therapy services to clients.

Essential and Primary Responsibilities:
Designs/plans/implements therapeutic techniques
Plans and implements developmentally appropriate and individualized therapeutic techniques and strategies that meet the needs of each client.
Adapts environments to support successful client outcomes.
Assesses and communicates progress results to families and other team members
Selects appropriate assessment tools for each client and uses multiple modes and methods of assessment, involving the family and team members.
Uses a systematic process of collecting ongoing assessment data, monitors progress and shares assessment information with family and otr team members.
Collaborates with colleagues, supports families and self-evaluates professional practices
Displays appropriate interpersonal skills to support collaboration and participates as an effective team member.
Demonstrates effective communication skills that value the role, skills, input and expertise of families, colleagues and others.
Provides ongoing support for families to promote client success through information sharing, joint decision making, and program planning, respecting the family's preferred level of involvement.
Engages in self-evaluation of professional practices. Develops an ongoing plan for improving practices, and implements a plan for advancing client progress and achievement.
Complies with Agency and Regulatory Requirements
Complies with regulations and completes required record keeping within timelines set by agency, state and federal regulatory requirements.
Complies with health and safety policies/procedures and completion of incident reporting.
Fulfills productivity requirements set by agency.

Competencies:
Computer Skills - Possesses a working knowledge of Microsoft office skills. Able to accurately enter data into a database, search for information, send and receive email and attachments.
Teamwork, including balancing team and individual responsibilities, exhibiting objectivity and openness to others' views, giving and welcoming feedback, contributing to building a positive team spirit, and supporting everyone's efforts to succeed.
Strong customer service skills in reference to both internal and external customers.

Required Education and Experience:
Current Kentucky Speech and Language Pathology license
Master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology and completion of national board requirements, Certification of Clinical Competence preferred, but may consider Clinical Fellowship (CFY)
One year of working as part of an interdisciplinary team with early childhood development, augmentative and alternative communication, computer software, adaptive peripherals and oral motor methods experience preferred

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Work is performed in the classrooms, program rooms, meeting rooms, office setting, or on Easterseals Redwood grounds. Easterseals Redwood's buildings are climate controlled with standard lighting. When conducting duties outside of the building, lighting and temperature reflect seasonal conditions. Noise levels are moderate. There is minimal-to-no exposure to hazardous chemicals with occasional exposure to contagious conditions, such as the common cold and body fluids.

In the role the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The essential functions of this position require visual/hearing acuity, sufficient strength, and the ability to bend, reach, grasp, manipulate objects, pull/push, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, and lift and and/or carry up to 50 pounds or exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently to move human bodies or objects, with or without the use of adaptive equipment. Lifting forces vary with adult weight and level of ability to assist in the movement.
