Hours:

Typical hours for this position would be 8AM- 4:30PM 3 days a week with ability to have a flexible schedule to meet the demands of facility and Dental Clinic needs.

Summary/Objective

The Dental Department serves as the primary dental care for the residents of Hazelwood to include acute and chronic medical care. All services are provided at the highest standard of professional practice, complying with standards by both federal and state regulations and facility policies.

Required Education and Experience

Completion of Dental Hygienist Training Program from an Accredited College or University
Completes all required training activities for position. Continues professional development, and keeps pace with current job specific literature, technological advances, policies, laws, etc. Maintains licensure and/or certification required for position.

License by Kentucky State Board of Dentistry

Board Certified - National and State Board

Essential Functions of the Position

Help with daily tooth brushing and training of residents in home.
Help develop and run desensitization program.
Shall provide individualized services to meet the treatment needs of each of the specialty intermediate care (IC) clinic patients for services in field of care. Shall meet requirements of 902 KAR 20:410 Specialty Intermediate Care Clinics as warranted.
Prepare and properly set up treatment rooms for hygiene procedures.
Review and update patient's health history; chart progress, treatments, and home care compliance.
Clean calculus deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth and beneath margins of gums, using dental instruments, including scaling and root planning for patients with periodontal disease
Apply fluorides and other cavity preventing agents to arrest dental decay.
