Job description

Essential Functions: Performs routine manual and skilled labor Operates turf equipment, moderately heavy equipment, irrigation systems and maintains of high-quality turf grass and landscape of public golf courses Examples of Duties Examples of Work: UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION At the discretion of the employer, may be assigned responsibilities of crew leader Performs custodial duties Uses a variety of hand and power tools in performing maintenance on equipment, buildings and other structures Observes and checks operation of equipment for malfunctions Services and maintains automatic and manual irrigation systems Operates assigned equipment Performs daily maintenance on turf related equipment Maintains greens, tees, fairways and landscaping Services or makes adjustments to equipment Operates, services and maintain trucks, tractors and attachments for maintenance equipment Performs related work Minimum Requirements Physical Requirement & Working Conditions: Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work Lifts and carries items weighing up to 70 pounds Lifts and carries items weighing over 70 pounds in a team setting Spends prolonged periods of time sitting, standing, walking, carrying, stooping and climbing Spends prolonged periods of time exposed to the elements Sufficient vision to identify work areas needing attention and identify potential hazards Required to pass a physical exam in order to wear a Respiratory mask Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or the equivalent Six months experience working with turf equipment and/or moderately heavy equipment Other Minimums: Must wear safety equipment as mandated by OSHA Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license Special Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid Agriculture license/certification from the Kentucky Department of Agriculture or obtain within three months of employment Supplemental Information KSA's: Knowledge and ability to mix chemicals, chemical compatibility and safety procedures for applying chemicals to golf courses Knowledge of identifying plants and diseases and proper treatment, and handling chemicals, herbicides, fertilizer, pesticides and insecticides Knowledge of invasive plants Knowledge of turf equipment to make minor adjustments or repairs Skill and tact in dealing with the public while maintaining public golf courses Skill in manual dexterity Skill in visual dexterity and acuity to manipulate levers gauge distance and safely use power tools Ability to operate a motor vehicle
