REPORTS TO: Vice President of External Relations

JOB SUMMARY AND QUALIFICATIONS:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Director of Fund Development to lead our fundraising efforts and drive the philanthropy of our organization. The Senior Director will be responsible for creating and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies to secure philanthropic support from individuals, corporations, and foundations. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication skills, a proven track record of successful fundraising, and a passion for our organization's mission.

WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE FOR THIS ROLE:

1. Bachelor's degree required; certification in fundraising or related field preferred.

2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, with a proven track record of success in major gifts along with fundraising events and campaign management.

3. Strong leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring a team of fundraising professionals.

4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, board members, and staff at all levels.

5. Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement innovative fundraising strategies.

6. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines and execute on follow-up.

7. Knowledge of fundraising best practices, including ethical standards, donor lifecycle, and mission-based fundraising.

8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; experience with Raisers Edge NXT systems preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Strategic Planning: Develop and execute annual and long-term fundraising plans aligned with organizational goals and objectives.

2. Donor Cultivation: Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, and foundations to secure financial support.

3. Major Gifts: Lead efforts to solicit major gifts from high-net-worth individuals and develop personalized cultivation and stewardship plans for top donors.

4. Fundraising Events: Plan and execute fundraising events and special campaigns to engage current and prospective donors and raise funds for the organization.

5. Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of fundraising professionals, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to ensure their success.

6. Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including grants, marketing, communications, community engagement and programmatic teams, to integrate fundraising efforts with overall organizational strategies.

7. Budget Management: Develop and manage the fundraising budget, reviewing revenue and expenses and acting accordingly, assist with reporting to senior leadership and the board of directors.

8. Donor Database Management: Oversee the donor database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date donor records and utilizing data to inform fundraising strategies and decision-making.

9. Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant fundraising regulations, including IRS guidelines for nonprofit organizations and ethical fundraising practices.
