Job Description
Responsibilities

The Vice President, Security & Safety Preparedness is responsible for providing leadership expertise to develop and scale Safety and Security initiatives to help manage risk and provide practical solutions throughout the system. This role provides the strategic vision and day-to-day operations of Norton Healthcare security services, disaster planning, and emergency preparedness efforts and leads an ongoing assessment of system-wide security needs. Develops policies, processes and plans that ensure the safety and security of patients, visitors, staff, and assets. Implements comprehensive emergency management and business continuity plans and practices.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develops, implements, and manages strategic planning and coordination of an organization-wide risk-based security function, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives. Displays forward thinking to anticipate needs and opportunities, develops strategy and plans, and proactively aligns teams and resources.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures related to the security services department and enterprise staff safety and security. Reviews and recommends changes to policies and procedures as necessary in order to ensure compliance with regulations established by external agencies or changing corporate requirements. Documents compliance and maintains metrics of incidences, performance, regulations and industry specific compliance indicators. Manages the identification of risk issues, conducts investigations, audits and takes corrective and preventative action to mitigate risk. Ensures on-going development and execution of system-wide security risk assessment and security related education and training. Makes final decisions on administrative or operational matters affecting the entire NHC system.
  • Continuously evaluates in-house capabilities and opportunities for reducing service contracts and operational costs. Function as a project leader to develop, communicate, implement, and monitor solutions and processes using multi-disciplinary teams. Demonstrates fiscal responsibility in decision making for tools and personnel needed to provide security throughout the organization.
  • Serves as the principal representative for all security related matters (e.g. safety, security, emergency preparedness) as they relate to federal, state, regional and local agencies. Responsible for overseeing the emergency preparedness plan for the system and ownership of the DNV security management plan.
  • Serves as the primary leader for security services, safety, and emergency preparedness for Norton Healthcare. Provides oversight of the security and safety teams responsible for the front line safety and security of all patients, visitors and staff across the system. Mentors, guides and coaches security and safety leadership throughout the organization.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Five (5) years of leadership experience
  • Ten (10) years of experience in safety, security, or disaster planning/emergency preparedness
  • Bachelor degree
