Summary Objective The purpose of this appointed position is to manage video and photography needs for the Office of the Mayor. This position will create engaging, dynamic, and creative video and photographic content for use on mayors social media accounts and the Louisville Metro Government website. The role will also be responsible for being on location to film videos and take photos. Once captured, they will edit materials to showcase the Office of Mayors priorities. This position will work with the Office of Communications for the Mayors Office. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences. Examples of Duties ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Writes, produces, and edits engaging videos and photographic content for use on the mayors social media accounts and the Louisville Metro Government website. Creates stories visually in new, compelling, and appealing ways to increase engagement across social platforms. Shoots b-roll/soundbite packages used by local media to help highlight and showcase Metro investments and priorities of the Office of the Mayor. Produces video messages for senior staff and Mayor. Operates equipment including cameras, editing console, time base correctors, audio board, and video switcher. Cuts and edits images to remove bad or extraneous footage, to add effects such as graphics or transitions, and to create a professional video product. Edits footage and has a prompt turnaround. Assists with Open Records requests. Participates in the Mayors communication meetings. Maintains, repairs, services, and installs basic equipment. Performs related work as assigned. Minimum Requirements MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree in communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related discipline. Five (5) years of journalism, communications or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must possess and maintain a valid state drivers license with an acceptable driving history. Must be available to work some weekends as required by Mayors schedule. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Light work that involves walking or standing most of the time and involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis; or skill, adeptness and speed in the use of fingers, hands or limbs on repetitive operation of mechanical or electronic office or shop machines or tools within moderate tolerances or limits of accuracy. UNAVOIDABLE HAZARDS (WORK ENVIRONMENT): Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken. Involves routine and frequent exposure to: Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen. Extreme heat and/or cold; Wet or humid conditions.
