QUALIFICATIONS:A minimum of a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential with a
focus on infant and toddler development
REPORTS TO:Family, Health, Disabilities Coordinator
SUPERVISES:Students
JOB GOAL:To provide developmentally appropriate curriculum for assigned
children/families; build responsive relationships with children/families
TERM:Twelve Months
SALARY:Early Head Start Family Home Visitor Salary Schedule: SB-121
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Instructional Responsibilities
A. To establish learning objectives, immediate and long range with written minimum, daily,
weekly or unit lesson plan for children and families. Planning shall provide for
systematic growth in fundamental knowledge, skills, appreciation and attitudes
B. To teach effectively
1. Recruit and enroll children and families from various segments of the community to
ensure full enrollment and wait-lists of assigned home-based program.
2. Conduct weekly home visits to facilitate the delivery of all Head Start component areas.
3. Plan, coordinate, and conduct socializations and trainings a minimum of twice a month
for children and families according to the family needs assessment.
4. Ensure the screening and on-going assessment for each child.
5. Implement designated home-based program curricula for each child and family.
6. Attend or facilitate meetings and trainings as directed by supervisor.
7. Actively participate in community collaborations and affiliations in order to advocate
for Head Start children and families.
8. Perform record keeping, including written documentation, scheduled reports, and
mandated reporting, in a timely, accurate, and confidential manner.9. Ensure regular communication with families regarding screenings, assessments, and surveys, in order to provide needed information regarding medical, psychological, and
social services.
10. Partner with assigned families to identify child and family needs and appropriate
ways of meeting those needs through family goals and referrals.
11. Refer families and children to resources within Rapides Head Start and community
organizations for social services needs as necessary.
12. Participate in on-going professional development through education, role modeling,
mentoring, and training.
13. Demonstrate an understanding of child growth and development, showing respect
for the individuality of every child
II. Professional Responsibilities
A. To exhibit enthusiasm and self-confidence, assuming a positive attitude about the possibility for growth and development of all children
B. To maintain good public relations, making positive contributions to parents' understanding of child's progress
C. To be ethical in contacts with parents, colleagues and students
D. To be loyal to the administration of the school system and the school
E. To establish and execute a professional growth and self-evaluation plan in accordance with
the Rapides Parish School Board Personnel Evaluation Plan

H. To be in attendance on job except for personal illness or emergency as defined by Head Start policy
