Job description
ABOUT US:
Jack Harper Electrical, LLC is the premier Traffic Signal, Intelligent Transportation System, and Lighting contractor for the Gulf Coast Region. JHE's expertise has grown to include design, installation, and maintenance of signals, roadway lighting, decorative lighting, and Intelligent Transportation and fiber optic systems.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates heavy equipment of various sizes and weights used in road, site or highway construction and paving.
- Properly follows company and OSHA safety procedures. Brings problems to the attention of the foreman, superintendent, or safety director.
- Follows daily procedures and protocols as set forth in job orientations and trainings.
- Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to the supervisor; cleans equipment.
- Assists in the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices. Controls traffic at worksites by flagging to guide traffic through work areas, as required or assigned.
- Assists in training lower-level employees performing the maintenance and repair duties as required or assigned.
- Make daily pre-trip inspections of assigned truck and other assigned equipment
- Drive assigned vehicle / equipment to and from job site, as directed
- Operate equipment properly and in accordance with all manufacturer recommendations and training, in order to complete the necessary task.
- Manually load or unload equipment, materials or supplies
- Correctly load and secure all loads
- Assist in traffic control as directed
- Assist in maintenance of assigned equipment
- Responsible for maintaining assigned PPE and having proper PPE on hand for scheduled work.
- Responsible for providing, maintaining and attending work with hand tools listed on the required tools list provided to employee at hire.
- Participate in all required safety training including weekly Tool Box Talks.
- Clean and organize warehouse, shop, yard, office and vehicles to maintain a clean, safe work environment
- Must follow all company policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Any other duties assigned as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience required
- Previous experience in the Traffic Signal, Intelligent Transportation System, and/or Roadway Lighting Industries Required
- Must be able to successfully complete the pre-employment process including a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) with less than 7 points, clean drug screen, and criminal background check that falls within company hiring guidelines
- Current Driver's license required; Commercial Driver's License preferred
- Must hold current First Aid, CPR, AED, and Flagger Certification (or complete with company provided trainer as requested by employer)
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule with overtime, nights, and weekends as the job requires
- Must meet the eligibility requirements of the company Fleet Policy to be a company sanctioned driver.
- The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations.

- Must possess good interpersonal skills.

- Ability to troubleshoot problems and offer solutions.
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Ability to apply concepts of basic math.
- Ability to manage time between two or more projects at one time.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and procedures.
- Possess minimum ability to read a tape measure.
- The ability to apply knowledge and skills to achieve intended results.
- Must successfully complete company provided First Aid, CPR, AED, and Flagger Certification
- If requested, must successfully complete company provided Forklift training/certification. Not all JHE employees are required to utilize forklifts. Forklifts may only be used by designated employees AFTER they have received their company provided Forklift training/certification.
