Job Title: Designer - On-Site Septic Systems

Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports to: Engineering Manager

Company Overview: Our client, a leader in environmental services and wastewater management, is seeking a skilled Designer specializing in on-site septic system design. The ideal candidate will have expertise in designing efficient and compliant septic systems for residential, commercial, and industrial properties.

Job Summary: The Designer will be responsible for creating detailed designs for on-site septic systems, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role involves site evaluations, designing system layouts, preparing permit applications, and collaborating with engineers, contractors, and clients to develop effective wastewater solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Planning:


    • Conduct site evaluations to determine soil conditions, topography, and water table levels for septic system placement.
    • Design on-site septic systems tailored to the specific needs of each property, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
    • Create detailed system layouts, including tank and drain field placement, distribution boxes, and piping systems.
  • Permitting & Compliance:


    • Prepare and submit permit applications, ensuring all designs meet local and state health department regulations.
    • Stay updated on current regulations and codes related to on-site septic systems and wastewater management.
    • Coordinate with regulatory agencies to facilitate the approval process for system installations.
  • Collaboration & Client Interaction:


    • Work closely with engineers, contractors, and clients to develop cost-effective and sustainable septic system solutions.
    • Provide technical support and guidance throughout the installation process, addressing any design-related issues.
    • Communicate design plans and system functionality to clients, ensuring they understand the maintenance and operation of their septic systems.
  • Documentation & Reporting:


    • Maintain accurate records of site evaluations, system designs, and regulatory communications.
    • Prepare and deliver detailed design reports, including calculations, schematics, and installation guidelines.


Qualifications:


  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in on-site septic system design or a related field.

  • Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
    • Certification in on-site wastewater system design is a plus.

  • Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of soil science, hydrology, and wastewater management principles.
    • Proficiency in CAD software and other design tools.
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and regulatory agencies.
    • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.


Physical Requirements:


  • Ability to conduct site evaluations, which may involve walking on uneven terrain and exposure to various weather conditions.
