Job description

Regional hospital is seeking BE/BC Internal or Family Med physician to join Hospitalist team in eastern Maine.

• One week on/one week off schedule
• Typical schedule is: come in to round at hospital from 7a-3:30p, remaining on call the remainder of the day/evening or call, rarely returning.
• BE or BC IM or FM with hospitalist experience
• Employed position with competitive salary and benefit package
• Average daily census is 14
• Daily admits: one to four.
• A large percentage of our inpatients are skilled/swing and/or dwp, which do not need to be seen on a daily basis.
• All admissions through the Emergency Department
• 25 bed critical access hospital, no ICU, with an active 10 bed ED
• Patient types: Four intermediate care beds (No ICU), Medical/Surgical, Observation, Swing and Days Waiting Placement
• EMR: Meditech Expanse
• Strong nursing and support staff
• After hours call
• Shift-work also available if you'd just like to pick up anywhere from 4-10 shifts per month (24 hours with rounding and call after hours)

Will work closely with nurses, therapists, social workers and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes. Conduct regular patient rounds, assess progress and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans ordering diagnostic tests and appropriate interventions. Will ensure timely and thorough documentation. Will participate in care conferences and family meetings to discuss patient care plans and address any concerns or questions.

Compensation:

Base salary would be $275-$325K with the option of earning additional if you'd like to take office hours in the afternoons while at hospital on week days.

Located on the section of the border that runs vertically between the United States and Canada, Houlton is in Maine s Aroostook County and is set among some of the state and country s most rural, scenic, and rugged landscapes. It s also known for its variety of annual fairs and festivals that draw people from all over the region, and its border location makes day-trips into Canada easy as well. During the warm summer months, the area around Houlton comes alive with more activities than most visitors expect; many of them have been going on for years and are family friendly.

Whether you re a hiker, mountain biker, snowmobiler or ATV rider, you can enjoy a different sort of exploration on the Southern Bangor and Aroostook Trail. This 37-mile, multi-use trail follows an old rail bed, so it s relatively flat. It makes for a great trip as it winds through small towns in southern Aroostook.

In May, join a hoard of other beer lovers in welcoming spring and a bunch of new brews at the annual Black Fly Brewfest. Over the 4th of July weekend each year, you can enjoy the Houlton Agricultural Fair, featuring concerts, amusement park rides and agricultural attractions. Want some fun on the water? Stop by in the spring for the annual Meduxnekeag River Canoe Race. It s run each spring for more than 35 years and draws paddlers to a 9.5 miles stretch of the river, ending at a park downtown.
