Job description

Duties You will plan, organize, and direct the activities of all subordinates in the Facility Management Branch, ensuring that facilities are maintained and repaired in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs. You will conduct site visits and final walkthroughs to ensure facilities meet the Shipyard's requirements. You will interface with other branches within Code 980 and other departments on the Shipyard to ensure all requirements are met and required data is provided. You will communicate status of repairs and changes in repair plans. You will develop priorities for Shipyard facility deficiencies and track the repairs. You will work with all stakeholders to resolve conflicts or unforeseen problems, including the communication of changes, impacts and resolutions. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with engineering concepts, principles, and practices applicable to facility projects to support problem solving and resolution of conflicts. Experience with structural, mechanical, electrical/electronics, industrial, civil and nuclear engineering, in the application of facility maintenance, repair, construction, and operation. Experience applying principles and practices of budget formulation and determining if obligation, expenditures, and requested allotments are within funding limitations in the approved budget. Experience determining objectives, setting priorities, and developing the best approach to the planning of work for a wide variety of extensive engineering projects and programs. Experience using job-relevant information systems and/or software applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets, automated research tools, and database applications.
