Job description

Duties Manage the provision of a full range of prevention, community education, direct services, and liaison with other Family Advocacy Program agencies and services. Carry out program management responsibility for a Family Advocacy Program ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and meeting customer needs. Coordinate social work services and provide referrals to other programs and services to include a Military Treatment Facility, Child Protective Services, chaplains, state and local social services agencies, and other military and medical personnel. Recommend and take action to effect removal and protection of family members from the abusers. Manage a child abuse/neglect and domestic violence prevention and education program. Provide evaluation and develop work performance standards of subordinates. Plan and execute community-wide prevention education campaigns for special emphasis initiatives. Requirements Conditions of Employment You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. One year trial/probationary period may be required. This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so and periodic re-verification check of multiple agency records. This position requires a valid, state-issued and USAREUR Driver's License and must be insurable in order to travel to other locations in the Command's structure. This position requires you to be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance of access for the duration of employment which includes a background investigation and credit check. This position requires a one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties unless previously completed. This position requires Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel approximately 25% of the time away from your permanent duty station. Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Social Worker (Family Advocacy Program): Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) performing Social Work in family abuse prevention, community education, direct services and liaison with other installation services, state and local services for a family advocacy program; (2) assessing and analyzing incidents of in the field of domestic violence and/or child abuse neglect; AND (3) performing crisis intervention services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone no substitution of education for experience is permitted. In addition, to the above experience. Minimum of 5 years of postgraduate experience in community organization or management. At least 2 of the last 5 years in programs dealing with Family violence issues. This position requires 2 years of experience working in the field of child abuse and domestic abuse. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement. This is a(n) Medical Career Field position. Locality pay does not apply in the overseas area. Pay retention may be offered to selected applicants for positions at overseas locations. Pay retention will not be offered as an incentive for employees moving between overseas positions. Selectees may receive certain foreign area benefits such as: Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) or government quarters, home leave, etc. Selectees will have their eligibility for foreign area benefits determined at the time of hire in accordance with Department of State Standardized Regulation (DSSR) and DoDI 1400.25 volume 1250 . When receiving medical or dental care in the overseas area, employees generally must pay for service up front and submit claims to their insurance companies for reimbursements. Access to medical and dental care in Poland is primarily through the use of local Polish medical and dental facilities on a fee basis with the possibility of reimbursement based on an individual's health insurance plan. Accessing medical care on the military installation is extremely limited. At an exchange rate of approximately 4:1, Polish Zloty (PLN) to US Dollar (USD), the cost of living in Poland is very reasonable.
