Job description
Duties Controls and maintains the life cycle management of assigned technical publications in the acquisition or sustainment commodity. Utilizes Information Technology (IT) such as Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) and eXtensible Markup Language (XML), as well as low-level IT such as Portable Document Format (PDF) and word processing to edit and manage electronic documents. Conducts verifications on equipment using target audience personnel. Reviews technical manual submissions and ensures completeness and accuracy before final acceptance from contractors. Manage publications to ensure MIL-STD compliance, initiate and complete publication changes or revisions, and conduct technical manual development and/or update processes required for authentication. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. General Experience: Three years progressively responsible experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level 1) Interpreting publication regulatory guidance in order to provide policy and procedural guidance; 2) using automated systems to present technical writing/graphical depictions of information; AND 3) reviewing and editing equipment publications. OR I have successfully completed a Bachelor's degree or equivalent graduate degree. Undergraduate and Graduate education must have included least a total of 15 semester hours in an appropriate scientific, technical, or social science field(s), and at least one course above the introductory level in the field(s) covered by the position. For technical manuals and specifications writers or editors, the equivalent of 15 semester hours may have been gained through vocational or educational training above the high school level at a public, private, or Armed Forces school. OR I have the general experience as described in A, but less than three years; and I have some education as described in B, but less than the required four years. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 36. Then, divide your semester hours of education by 120. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
