Job description

We are seeking an experienced Operations Research Analyst, with government agency experience, to develop mathematical and simulation modeling approaches and prototypes. You will work with community-leading data scientists and engineers to develop research techniques for solving management and operational problems of critical IT and cybersecurity systems and networks. Your role will cover the range of decision analysis from defining data requirements, gathering and validating information, evaluating the implementation and effectiveness of research, and designing and evaluating operational models for solving problems by computers or other methods. Collaboration and stakeholder engagement is a key aspect of this position where you will conduct and present Decision Analysis and Cost/Benefit Analysis findings to senior management and decision-makers across multiple organizations. This role resides in our Delivery Department and reports to our Program Manager. This position is located onsite in Annapolis Junction, MD. SIXGEN supports cyber and intelligence missions by serving government and commercial organizations as they overcome global cybersecurity challenges. Our highly skilled operators conduct research and assessments based on real-world threats. We simulate adversaries and malicious actors to report details and actionable findings on critical assets and infrastructures. Our program planners advise mission owners to bring rapid solutions to intelligence mission leaders. Using innovative processes, tools, and techniques, we predict and overcome cybersecurity vulnerabilities. Our successes are supported by our diverse team of experienced, technical talent. Core Responsibilities: Most important is experience using a variety of modeling approaches as necessary for solving management and operational problems (statistical models, simulation, optimization, etc.). Experience gathering modeling requirements from stakeholders Develop and run mathematical or simulation modeling prototypes Perform validation and testing of models to ensure adequacy, or determine the need for reformulation Experience preparing reports of modeling approach and results, and briefing modeling results to stakeholders May help in the development of training materials in Operations Research techniques such as optimization and simulation Required Skills and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, or Management Science 10 years of experience required with a BS (or 8 years experience with an MS or 6 years experience with a PhD) in conducting analyses of management and operational problems using Operations Research techniques TS/SCI w/ Polygraph Four years experience in the application of M&S to Decision Analysis problems Four years experience in the application of M&S to Cost/Benefit Analysis problems Four years experience in using several of the following products: PANDAS, R, EXCEL/VBA, ARENA, OCTAVE, Tableau, Gurobi/CPLEX, EXTEND SIM, SAS, NETICA, statsmodels, Stata, MATLAB, SPSS. The anticipated salary range for this role is $160,000 - 180,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. This range reflects our compensation philosophy, which takes into account various factors including the candidate's relevant experience, education, skills, LCATs rates and position level, and market competitiveness. In addition to base salary, employees may be eligible for other forms of compensation to include our growth incentive program, incentives and benefits. The final salary offer will be determined after a thorough review of the candidate's background and alignment with the role.
