Job description

As a VDI Engineer supporting the Government, you will be charged with engineering solutions for baseline VDI builds to ensure upgrades are incorporated before operating system (OS) end-of-life. Job Description

  • Engineering, Designing, testing, implementing, maintaining, securing, and full life-cycle management of the complex Citrix XenDesktop and NetScaler solutions deployed in the large Enterprise environment.
  • Designing and supporting Microsoft infrastructure solutions, including Azure Virtual Desktop, on-prem, cloud, and hybrid.
  • Interacting with the Government regarding technical considerations for problems, issues, or conflicts.
  • Engineering, implementing, mitigating, monitoring, and tuning VDI environment and management software to obtain Authorize To Operate (ATO) for new VDI solutions.
  • Managing Citrix products (Virtual Apps, Virtual Desktops, ADC, Provisioning).
  • Operating and executing scripting skills in PowerShell or Python.
  • Providing Tier 3 and above support as needed (troubleshooting, problem resolution support, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA .
  • Preparing and maintaining documentation for VDI solutions, processes, and procedures related to engineering projects.
Required Skills
  • Experience performing engineering work associated with the design, development, maintenance, and testing of infrastructure for desktop application packaging and deployment technologies.
  • Knowledge of Citrix XenApp, AppLayering, and/or Enterprise Layer Manager (ELM).
  • Hands-on experience with SQL Clustering Failover.
  • Knowledge of cloud, networking, and enterprise architectures.
  • Expertise in the Windows 10 area - Standard Operating Environment (SOE), imaging, evergreen, etc.
Required Certifications
  • CWS-215: Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 7 Administration On-Premises and in Citrix Cloud.
  • Azure.
Desired Certifications
  • Managing Modern Desktops (MD-101).
  • Windows 2019 Server Deployment.
  • Remote Desktop Services (RDS).
  • Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (1Y0-312).
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma + 12 years of experience.
  • Associate's Degree + 10 years of experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree + 8 years of experience.
  • Master's Degree + 6 years of experience.
  • PhD + 4 years of experience.
Standard Characteristics
  • Experience performing engineering work associated with the design, development, maintenance, and testing of infrastructures for desktop application packaging and deployment technologies.
  • Identifies, designs, and implements process improvements for the virtualization of and distribution of applications: automating manual processes, optimizing delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability.
  • Analyze user's requirements, concept of operations documents, and high level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications.
  • Provide technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology.
  • Incorporate new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations.
  • Develop system architecture and system design documentation.
  • Interact with the Government regarding technical considerations and for associated problems, issues or conflicts.
  • Responsible for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility.

  • Oversees and monitors performance across several disciplines and, when required, takes steps to resolve issues.
Capabilities and Additional Requirements

  • Supervise assigned technical staff, including subordinate managers.
  • Establish state-of-the-art techniques for designing, developing, modifying, and troubleshooting highly complex computer operating hardware systems.
  • Design operating/hardware systems; formulate system concepts and architecture, specific requirements, and develop implementation approaches. Identify and direct resolution of complex hardware/software interface issues; subject matter expert on emerging technologies; direct the development of systems specifications and technical documentation.
  • Provide technical direction for the development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of all components of complex hardware/software systems to include requirements elicitation, analysis and functional allocation, conducting systems requirements reviews, developing concepts of operation and interface standards, developing system architectures, and performing technical/non-technical assessment and management as well as end-to-end flow analysis.
  • Conduct and/or approve end-to-end system trade analyses to optimize system operations over its life-cycle through the proper balance of non-functional system performance areas.
