Job description

Overview A skilled and motivated Materials Expediter professional is sought to assist government staff in the procurement, tracking, and distribution of Class VIII materials, including expendable, durable, and nonexpendable medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment. This role supports various departments, satellite clinics, and other designated units within the assigned geographical area. The Materials Expediter plays a key role in ensuring that all materials are requested, delivered, and stored according to regulatory guidelines, while supporting military readiness and troop mobilization efforts. Job Summary: Order Management & Support: Assist government staff in processing orders in DMLSS for Class VIII supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment, supporting departments, satellite clinics, and tenant units in the region. Assist in obtaining both standard and non-standard supplies for urgent requisitions, coordinating with government representatives for critical shortage items. Perform technical support duties, including requesting supplies and equipment, preparing necessary documents, providing customer assistance, and conducting data searches. Maintain all required forms (e.g., DA Form 1687, Property Book Orders, Financial Targets) and verify customer signature cards for controlled items. Order Processing & Follow-Up: Receive and research customer orders, submit for approval, and follow up on the delivery of medical and non-medical supplies. Ensure that orders meet all relevant policies, confirming receipt by an authorized government representative. Coordinate with internal and external customers to review and submit supply requests, ensuring compliance with standardization initiatives. Ensure proper handling of controlled substances and precious metals, notifying government representatives of any discrepancies. Submit DA Form 3953 for high-value items exceeding the micro-purchase threshold and coordinate with appropriate military requisition agencies. Inventory Management: Coordinate with Quality Assurance (QA/QC) personnel for stratification and proper disposal of materials. Ensure funding is approved before submitting orders. Assist in managing stockrooms, applying automated inventory systems and monitoring levels. Conduct daily surveys of assigned areas to document deficiencies related to HAZCOM/HAZMAT programs and take corrective actions. Remove expired supplies, prepare turn-in documents, and dispose of materials in accordance with local Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and government approvals. Logistics & Transportation: Support the transport of medical gas cylinders, ensuring compliance with government and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Coordinate supply deliveries to internal and external customers, ensuring emergency orders are processed immediately. Review delivery paperwork to verify material condition and quantity. Assist in warehouse operations by pulling inventory and managing crash carts and Assemblage Management (AM) Sets. Must obtain and maintain a government license for vehicles and material handling equipment. Pick up soiled linen from various areas in the facility prior to transfer to laundry. Assist in moving delivered clean linen from the dock to the linen room. Deliver clean linen to assigned areas daily. Compliance & Reporting: Utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure proper use of Material Handling Equipment (MHE). Notify supervisors when replacement equipment is needed. Ensure external shipping containers are removed and supply areas are organized, maintaining cleanliness and order according to facility procedures. Monitor vendor credentials and report uncredentialed vendors in the facility. Attend and complete mandatory government training sessions, rescheduling missed sessions as necessary. Submit automated manpower hour reports reflecting actual work hours, ensuring timely submissions per government pay period requirements. Transport laboratory specimens, pharmaceuticals, and hazardous materials to clinics/agencies, ensuring proper packaging, labeling, and compliance with shipping standards. Requirements Skills & Abilities: Proficiency in basic computer programs such as Excel, Word, and Microsoft Outlook. Strong communication skills in English (speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension). Ability to assess actions when guidelines are not clearly defined. Ability to operate carts, motorized carts, and pallet jacks. Ability to bend, stand, stoop, and move arms in handling bundles of linen, packages, or pushing carts, which may require handling weights up to 200 pounds and lifting bundles weighing approximately 25 pounds. Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED 2-4 years of supply experience, with an understanding of supply operations, regulations, policies, and management techniques Certification(s): Must be able to obtain and maintain a forklift license to operate government-owned equipment (training provided by the government) Must obtain and maintain a government driver's license and provide valid proof of insurance in case of accidents Clearance: Must have a Secret security clearance and be able to maintain it
