Looking for a research manager to lead a congressionally mandated study for assessing nuclear energy capabilities, trade-offs, innovations, and supply chain risks. The successful candidate will oversee the project's progress, ensuring that all research activities align with legislative requirements and scientific standards. This role involves coordinating with a diverse team of experts, managing resources efficiently, and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders. This position requires a strategic thinker with a detail-oriented approach, capable of driving a high-profile research initiative to successful completion. Responsibilities The research manager will be responsible for coordinating and general oversight of the research project including the development of research methodologies, oversee data collection and analysis, and ensure the timely delivery of findings to the client. This position will act as the primary liaison between the project team and the client. The successful candidate will lead the execution of research projects by drafting proposals, selecting methods, supervising cross-functional teams, managing budgets, and presenting findings. This includes: Developing a project methodology
Conducting and overseeing literature reviews
Attending project meetings
Preparing progress reports
Preparing questions for data calls and collecting data
Conducting analysis of data
Interviewing various subject matter experts (SME)
Analyzing findings and summarizing results
Maintaining quality standards to preserve the integrity of data and findings
Writing reports to summarize findings and the implications of the results
Desired Experience: The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, preferably with experience in energy research or policy studies, and possess superior communication and organizational skills to effectively liaise with government agencies, industry partners, and academic collaborators. Experience responding to congressional queries as well as conducting studies and research.
Familiarity with Congressionally Directed Actions.
Experience working with congressional staffers or drafting legislative correspondence.
Required Skills: Excellent skills in project management, teamwork, and data analysis, enabling them to effectively lead teams, present findings, collaborate on project planning and execution, and analyze and interpret data.
Proven work experience as a Research Assistant or similar role
Excellent administrative skills
Knowledge of research methods
Ability to work under pressure
Excellent time management skills
Proficient in data analysis and interpretation of complex research findings
TS/SCI w CI Poly
Typically requires a BA degree and 12 - 15 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10 - 13 years of prior relevant experience.
Desired Skills: Strong understanding of electrical power systems and related regulatory issues
A degree in the field related to the study
Familiarity with federal nuclear energy regulations and compliance requirements
