Job description

TIAG is now hiring a Technical Writer to join our team supporting the Uniformed Services University IMIT out of Bethesda, MD. This position requires an active Secret clearance to be obtained, as a result US or Naturalized Citizenship is a requirement. This is a primarily remote position with periodic travel to the DC Metro region required. Position Responsibilities: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), test plans, and training materials, tailored to the specific needs of the IMIT section within USU. Collaborate with documentation review teams, test and evaluation working groups, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure accuracy and completeness. Review IMIT correspondence, project plans, data call responses, meeting minutes, technical reports, metrics reports, and policy documents for correctness, grammar, and formatting. Maintain a library of system design and implementation documentation, including connectivity diagrams, device information, programming, and other application details for specific installations and facilities. Work with IT staff, project managers, cybersecurity personnel, and other subject matter experts to gather information and ensure the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of documentation. Conduct user research and analysis to identify documentation requirements and tailor content to different audiences, considering varying levels of technical expertise and security clearances. Write in a clear, concise, and engaging style that is easy to understand for both technical and non-technical users, while maintaining the necessary level of security and confidentiality. Adhere to established DoD style guides, templates, and classification markings to ensure consistency, professionalism, and compliance across all documentation. Develop USU IMIT tailored documentation to include management plans, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Technical Manuals, User Manuals, Quick Reference Guides, and Training Materials as defined in the task order. Develop network description documents and special user instructions in addition to network Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and job aids for users. Produce and revise network documentation and media. Develop network information and training products for publication throughout the university. Develop, analyze, and maintain USU IMIT Design Guides and Architecture Views. Record Network Design Specifications and media and documentation as required for system testing. Required Experience: DoD Secret Clearance Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University in Communications, Science and Technology, communications, or equivalent experience. 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a DoD or Federal environment. Demonstrated experience conducting technical writing activities, related to information technology, computer science, or engineering topics. Experience must include developing manuals, how-to guides, standard operating procedures, reports, white papers, and other content that distills technical information clearly and correctly. Ability to manage time well to meet assigned milestones.
