Job description

Maryland Masonic Homes has an immediate opening for a full-time registered nurse for our Wellness Center. Maryland Masonic Homes is located in Cockeysville, MD near the Hunt Valley Town Center.

The ideal candidate must have 2-4 years experience working in an Independent/Assisted Living CCRC. Candidate will report directly to the ALM, and will work 8:00a-4:30p Monday through Friday and participate with on-call responsibilities.

Maintains day-to-day functions of the MMH Wellness Program and renders nursing care in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines developed for Independent Living (IL).

Evaluate the resident's physical and emotional status, and addresses concerns promptly; initiates level of care change.

Notifies the resident's physician and next of kin when there is a significant change in the resident's condition.

Maintains the confidentiality of all resident and employee information and documentation.

Evaluates potential admissions for proper placement in IL. Assures all requirements including PPD, med list, etc are up to date.

Receives complaints and concerns made by residents, family member, and visitors and makes written report to the ALM indicating steps that were taken to resolve the complaint or concern.

Maintain up to date Advance Directives and MOLST.

Efficiently schedules and manages all in-house physicians to minimize downtime and communicates physician orders/concerns to appropriate units timely. Makes rounds with physicians as necessary.

Periodically reviews the department policies and emergency preparedness manuals, etc. Makes recommendations to the ALM.

Performs administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, audits, etc., as necessary.

Makes written and oral reports/recommendations concerning the activities of IL to the Assisted Living Manager (ALM).

Adheres to the residents' rights and reports violations to the ALM.

Reviews charts for all admits, transfers, and discharge of residents.

Assures accident/incident reports are completed thoroughly and corrective actions are documented and followed through.

Interacts with physicians in reviewing treatment plans, records and signs their orders in accordance with established policies.

Transcribes physician's orders per facility protocol.

Reports all discrepancies noted concerning physician's orders, charting etc., to the ALM.

Performs routine charting duties as required and in accordance with established charting and documentation policies and procedures.

Develops and maintains a good working rapport with inter-departmental personnel, as well as other departments within the facility to assure that the needs of the residents are met.

Works with Dining Services to implement and coordinate an in-room sick tray service.

Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as calm environment.

Performs services such as catheterization, applying and changing dressing/bandages, packs, colostomy, drainage bags, and injections, etc as ordered.

Arranges and assists with diagnostic and therapeutic services; pre-operative testing; and transportation as ordered by the physician.

Provides education to residents and family members as needed.

Maintains all work areas in compliance with established safety regulations and reports malfunctioning equipment promptly.

Participates in all fire safety and disaster preparedness drills in a safe and professional manner.

Participates in conducting new employee orientation as needed.

Completes vaccinations and employee-related documentation concerning new employee orientation, hepatitis vaccinations, PPD's, on the job injuries/Workers Compensation, etc., is completed per established guidelines.

Coordinates annual Flu vaccination clinics. Maintains records and submits data as required by state.

Assess on the job injuries of employees, provides emergency first aid and/or makes referrals out of facility.

Implements and maintains the "Vial of Life."

Attends Resident Council as requested to share updates and pertinent news/changes.

Develops/maintains a monthly calendar for MD visits, "Nurse-In" hours, clinics, education, and prevention programs.

Reaches out to local groups/physicians/consultants/vendors to secure education/prevention presentations and free products.

Admits, transfers, and discharges residents as required, in accordance with policy.

Completes 24 hour report. Gives/receives the nursing report upon reporting in and ending duty hours.

Responds to emergency call lights promptly.

Maintains all supplies and equipment, monitoring expiration dates; and, submits requests for new supplies and equipment to the ALM.

Maintains and accounts for cell phone/ pager.

Orders prescribed supplies and equipment as necessary.

Assist with med refills as needed.

Maintains accurate records to assure appropriate billing of supplies and services.

Reviews and updates service charge list regularly.

Attends and participates in continuing educational programs designed to keep abreast of changes in the profession.

Attends meetings as required.
