The Frederick National Laboratory is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and operated by Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. The lab addresses some of the most urgent and intractable problems in the biomedical sciences in cancer and AIDS, drug development and first-in-human clinical trials, applications of nanotechnology in medicine, and rapid response to emerging threats of infectious diseases.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Financial Operations Directorate (FOD) is committed to ensuring the financial integrity of the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research (FNLCR) by providing timely, accurate, and relevant information to internal and external stakeholders. Our team collaborates to effectively monitor and manage fiscal resources in a responsible, compliant, and professional manner in a dynamic environment. We adhere to applicable contract, regulatory, and compliance requirements while supporting the broader mission of the FNLCR

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Setting up new general ledger accounts, organizations, and linking them within the Deltek Costpoint (ERP system)
  • Maintaining open/close of period/sub period in Deltek Costpoint
  • Performing project administration - initial setup, opening projects, closing project, and project changes within Deltek Costpoint
  • Recording and reconciling cash receipts to the general ledger
  • Reconciling general ledger and subsidiary accounts and initiating any necessary corrections
  • Preparing and entering journal entries to the general ledger as well as importing journal entries via pre-processor into Deltek Costpoint
  • Complete month-end close responsibilities in accordance with established closing timelines
  • Send completed reconciliations to corporate
  • Performing other accounting related functions as required

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Possession of Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business from an accredited college/university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or four (4) years relevant experience in lieu of degree. Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work with strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to learn new technology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Microsoft Office software with intermediate level MS Excel experience
  • Ability to apply reason, logic, and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues
  • Good time management skills with the ability to implement work activities in accordance with priorities and schedules
  • Customer service oriented with a positive attitude
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • In addition to the education requirement, a minimum of two (2) years of general accounting experience with responsibility for general ledger, month-end close, project management or account reconciliations.
