PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Clinical Services Program's (CSP) primary mission is to perform sequential studies using samples obtained from patients with cancer, AIDS, chronic granulomatous disease, or other diseases associated with immunologic dysfunction, as well as to monitor viral load in patients with HIV.
The Warehouse Specialist position is part of the BioProcessing and Trial Logistics group within CSP, in support of the NCI Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics (DCEG). The position provides kit making, inventory control, and logistical support for a laboratory participating in clinical trials. The primarily responsibilities revolve around maintaining adequate supplies, inventory control, supply request fulfillment, shipping-related software, and the movement of supplies and/or frozen biospecimens across campus in courier vans. Preference given to applicants with prior shipping or warehouse experience. This position will require IATA and DOT certification as well as Fleet Driver certification for the shipment and relocation of specimens within the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research campus, within 90 days of hire.
KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Track inbound specimen and outbound supply shipments
- Maintain supply inventory records
- Maintain chemical inventory listings
- Organize supplies, including palletized material
- Order supplies
- Communicate with clinical collection centers regarding their supply and shipping needs
- Daily coordination of activities with laboratory staff and central receiving staff
- Scan packages to receive shipments into a clinical database
- Responsible for the packaging of specimens according to transport regulations.
- Schedule hazardous waste pickup
- Responsible for the movement of supplies between locations, on an as needed basis. This requires fleet driver training for the use of a fleet passenger van
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
- Possession of a high school degree
- In addition to the education requirement, a minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. daily
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Must have a clean driving record to be eligible for Fleet Driver certification
- This position is considered safety-sensitive and will be subject to random drug testing per the Leidos Biomedical Research Drug Free Workplace Program
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
- Some college experience or Associate's degree
- Prior customer service experience
- Prior experience shipping via FedEx, UPS, World Courier, USPS
- Experience using shipping equipment such as dollies, lift carts, pallet jacks, air cushion machine, stretch wrap machine
- Prior IATA certification for UN3373, Category B shipments
- Prior fleet driving experience
