Job description

This position is to support the Department of Energy! Must obtain a Public Trust for the position.

Must be local to Germantown, MD Area. The position is currently remote, but could go to a hybrid role in the future.

The Cybersecurity Specialist shall provide Cybersecurity operational support services to include operations and maintenance of the cyber infrastructure, incident response, risk management, certification and accreditation, continuous diagnostics and mitigation, and policy planning, development, and implementation aspects in support of the customer's cybersecurity requirements.

  • Maintain and support Cybersecurity Performance Management to include but not limited to daily, weekly and monthly reporting.
  • Maintain and operate a Cybersecurity Operations program.
    • Addressing incoming tickets, tasks
    • Tool administration, configuration and maintenance of cyber tools
    • Perform scanning and reporting for end points and assets within the environment
    • Support Vulnerability Management
    • Create, update, and maintain Cybersecurity documentation

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or Associate's Degree plus an additional two years' related experience.
  • 2-5 years of experience in cybersecurity operations preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Certifications/Training:
  • AZ-500 Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associated
  • SC-200 Microsoft Security Operations Analysis

Tools:

  • Cyber Operations Experience with BigFix, Splunk, Tenable Nessus, Forescout, Azure Sentinel, Azure Defender for Cloud, Azure Defender for Endpoint, Microsoft InTune
  • Other:
  • Experience and understanding of Cyber Federal policies guidance and frameworks to include NIST 800-53 controls
  • Ability to apply knowledge of cybersecurity and privacy principles to organizational requirements. Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
  • Able to assess the performance and impact of cyber operations. Exercises a limited degree of latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings to leadership. Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to function in a collaborative environment. Must be able to balance multiple tasks simultaneously.
