WhoYou Are: Versar has a unique opportunity for self-motivated security professionals, able to work independently to meet deadlines and response times, and in support of important missions within the Federal Government. Versar requires highly skilled, full-time, professional Electronic Security System (ESS) Technicians for the accomplishment of complex electronic security system preventative and corrective maintenance tasks. This position requires technical support for and installation of electronic security systems thereby protecting sensitive work-related activities, information, documentation, equipment, visitors, and Agency personnel in controlled areas such as federal courthouses and office spaces (probation offices, public defender spaces, etc.). WhatYou'llDo: The ideal candidate will provide installation of Access Control, Intrusion Detection, and Closed-Circuit Video (CCV) systems in addition to the integration of these systems to monitor the physical plant, people, and contents efficiently and effectively. Performing work, under supervision, to include Pulling cable, terminating field devices, mounting security field devices and panels.
Assisting with system testing and signal verification.
Use ladders to safely access ceiling crawl spaces and attics, pulling wires, hooking up routes, etc.
Cleans up installation debris and maintains an orderly workspace
Assist with teammate with troubleshooting as needed.
Meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
Maintain a high level of professionalism, in appearance and communication with the public and federal/local community members
Perform other duties as required
What You'll Bring: 18+ years of age
High School Diploma or equivalent
1+ years of directly relevant experience working with hand tools and power tools.
Ability to travel up to 75% of the time within the assigned region/territory
Ability to be available to travel with short notice for emergency response, as needed
Ability to lift to 50 lbs. and carry up to 25 lbs. regularly
Ability to walk, stand, climb ladders, or sit for extended periods of time
Ability to effectively communicate with managers and coworkers in English
Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License (at least 1 year)
Must be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate's start date
Successful results of pre-employment screenings, including federal background check, MVR (Motor Vehicle Record), and drug screen
Comply with Company Drug and Alcohol Policy
Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with CCV (Closed Circuit Video) Systems
Familiarity with working with security alarm systems (home security systems, i.e. NEST or Ring)
Familiarity with Windows based Operating Systems
Clearance Requirements Must possess or be able to obtain a Public Trust; Secret; or Top-Secret Clearance (depending on contract requirements).
LocationRequirements This position is based in the Germantown, MD/DC Metro area with additional work performed nationwide with up to 75% travel. Overnights may extend up to 4 weeks at a time, and accommodations are provided by the company.
