Qwaltec is looking for a Senior Mission Operations Engineer to support the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) On-Orbit Servicing, Assembly and Manufacturing 1 (OSAM-1) mission under the Ground System and Mission Operations 3 (GSMO-3) contract. This position is located in Greenbelt, MD.



The OSAM-1 mission is a GSFC Exploration & In-space Services (NExIS) managed mission. OSAM-1 is a robotic servicing mission designed to refuel a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite. It contains 3 elements: the Flight Element comprised of the OSAM-1 Servicing Vehicle (RSV) and development testbeds, the Ground Element comprised of the systems required to conduct RSV operations and the supporting networks and facilities, and the Launch Element comprised of the Launch Vehicle and supporting facilities and services. NExIS is responsible for the design, engineering, development, test and operations of the OSAM-1 mission through an integrated team at GSFC. The Servicing Payload design, development and RSV integration will be conducted at GSFC.



The Senior Mission Operations Engineer will provide operations support for the OSAM-1 ground and operations team.



The successful candidate will perform the following duties:



ASIST development for the OSAM-1 Flight Operations Team.

Supporting for OSAM-1 Servicing Vehicle (RSV) simulator for testing events and flight products testing.

Developing the Mission Operations Center (MOC) and Robot Mission Operations Center (ROBOMOC) position descriptions and responsibilities, and communication structure.

Supporting development of MOC/ROBOMOC visualization and situational awareness.

Developing CONOPS for utilizing multiple commanding sources (MOC and ROBOMOC); at different commanding rates.

Developing CONOPS for simulation/test and uplink of operational products (including maneuvers, stored command loads, and FSW/table uploads).

Supporting the OSAM-1 Ground Element (RGE) requirements verification testing.

Supporting development of operational/testing products including STOL procedures and telemetry displays.

Supporting end-to-end testing as well as mission readiness testing (which includes simulations and rehearsals).

Supporting development of core Flight Operations Team (FOT) shift staffing profile, shift handover process, and reporting.



Qualifications

Bachelors degree in aerospace engineering or comparable field

A minimum of nine (9) years of related experience required

Mission Planning Software (MPS) and STK Scheduler experience, preferably on a NASA program

CONOPS development experience

Ability to adapt and respond to changing circumstances and priorities

Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills

Experience with requirements development, verification, and testing

Experience with development of operational and testing procedures, including STOL procedures

Telemetry & commanding experience

Mission operations experience at GSFC a plus

Experience managing a team of operations engineers, scheduling shift work, managing shift handover, etc
