Job description

Description Are you skilled in thermal design and analysis? Are you searching for unique and truly meaningful work in the Space Industry? If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL! We are seeking a CFD Thermal Engineer to help us develop one of a kind spacecrafts. You will contribute to exciting missions such as Dragonfly. You will join a hardworking team of engineers that conceive, develop, analyze, test, launch and fly spacecraft systems. To learn about Dragonfly and other APL missions and projects, visitcivspace.jhuapl.edu and As a CFD Thermal Engineer Your primary responsibility will involve conducting conjugate heat transfer modeling and analysis for spacecraft and hardware using Ansys Fluent
You will perform thermal model validation using test and in-flight data
You will support thermal design decisions with analysis and calculation
You will conduct thermal design trade studies that successfully balance performance margins, resource use, risk, cost, and schedule
You will coordinate with all levels of program and engineering staff on thermal design, analysis and test matters Qualifications You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you Have a BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
Possess a strong background in heat transfer and fluid dynamics
Have 3+ years of experience in thermal design and analysis using the CFD software ANSYS FLUENT and meshing
Are proficient in ANSYS SpaceClaim or Discovery CAD for modeling complex systems
Demonstrate strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with cross-functional teams
Are able to obtain a Secret security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship. You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you Have a MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
Have experience with spacecraft or satellite development programs
