Description Do you have operational experience with U. S. Navy's Integrated Undersea Surveillance System or experience in other Undersea Warfare domains? We are seeking a dynamic, creative and analytical candidate to help us assess the design and influence the capability development of the U.S. Navy's maritime surveillance systems. We are looking to push the boundaries of system capabilities by providing critical support to the U.S. Navy's advanced development integration and testing community. Your contributions will help us transform data into knowledge, enabling decision makers to make informed choices on the future direction of the Navy's surveillance-based mission systems. You will join a hardworking and expert team of engineers, subject matter analysts and developers in an inclusive environment that values creative collaboration and innovation. As a Maritime Surveillance Systems Acoustic Analyst, you will Apply surveillance domain experience and acoustic analysis skills to the performance analyses of U.S. Navy surveillance-based mission systems. You will join a complementary team of engineers, subject matter experts and software developers focused on assessing in-lab and at-sea system performance to inform future development decision making and optimize operational utility and employment.
Collaborate with internal and external partners, acquisition sponsors (PMS 485) and fleet operational commands in working groups to assess performance of surveillance-based mission systems at the operational and functional level. You will research, investigate, and experiment with next-generation analysis capabilities and look for creative applications in unconventional ways.
Collaborate with system developers and analysis team members to evaluate fielded surveillance-based mission systems ensuring in-lab and at-sea test scope, analysis methodology, appropriate measures of performance and data required to execute analysis are comprehensive. You will participate in advanced development planning and testing at developer/Fleet facilities or at-sea in support of assessment of surface-based combat systems. Qualifications You meet our minimum qualifications for this position if you Have earned a Navy Enlisted Classification (NEC) Code or Commissioned Officer Designator related to sonar or anti-submarine warfare and/or possess a BS degree in Mathematics, Science or Engineering.
Have extensive relevant experience in surveillance systems operations, training, and testing.
Are passionate about applying operational experience and analytical skills in an innovative and collaborative environment.
Have strong interpersonal skills, are skilled at developing relationships across organizational teams and have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Are proficient at multi-tasking, prioritizing assignments, communicating progress and meeting deadlines.
Are willing to participate in system test, delivery, and integration tests at sponsor or operational navy sites.
Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship. You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you Have 5+ years of experience leading a technical team.
Have previous experience with U.S. Navy SURTASS, LFA or CLFA systems and/or systems performance analysis.
Have a knowledge of and previous experience using the Integrated Common Processor (ICP).

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
