Job description

The Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (SEIT) group is seeking a Lead Hardware Systems Integration Engineer to lead a cross-functional team of engineers and scientists to develop and maintain product development systems. Reporting to the SEIT Lead, the Lead Integration Engineer will collaborate with research and product development teams in providing state of the art, common, and reliable test platforms that enable new capabilities. Due to the unique environments required for superconductivity, these systems require a combination of commercial and custom hardware, low temperature or ultra-low temperature systems, and digital or microwave engineering. The Lead Hardware Systems Integration Engineer will: Design, develop, deploy, and maintain systems which support the research and development of superconducting electronics. Provide technical and project leadership for the cross-functional Integration and Test team. Working with the SEIT Lead, they will lead, establish, and enforce the adoption of standard processes, configuration management, and good engineering practices. Owns development systems across multiple locations, working with the product development teams and the SEIT Lead to align product development and integration systems. Work with subject matter experts, scientists, and product teams to adopt state of the art practices and technologies from related academic fields and industry. Develop and communicate road maps for the Integration and Test systems. Collaborate with external vendors and internal engineering groups on the development of commercial and custom hardware. Report on Integration and Test activities to product teams, program management, and customers. Support program capture and customer engagement activities. Apply systems thinking and sound systems engineering practices in a R&D organization. This position will serve on-site in Linthicum, MD at our Advanced Technologies Laboratory. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or higher in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a similar technical discipline with 14 years of related experience, or 12 years with a Master's Degree, or 9 years with a PhD. Experience on integration and test of hardware and software systems. Development of systems documentation, processes, and test plans. Elicitation of requirements from stakeholders and customers into executable specifications. Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain US security clearance. Preferred Qualifications: Experience leading cross functional teams in performing integration and test activities. Project execution experience with a familiarity of Earned Value reporting methods. Knowledge or experience in microwave, high speed digital, or cryogenic test. Software development experience with Matlab and Python. Data analysis using JMP or Python. Organizing operations and maintenance activities of test resources across multiple system integration labs. DoD secret Preferred but not required
