Job description
SMX is seeking a Unix System Administrator for a fast-paced IT Data Center environment. The chosen candidate will work closely with the customer, team members, as well as Systems Administrators at the Patuxent River Data Center (PRDC). The team member will assist in identifying those projects and tasks needing advanced level support and quick turnaround. The team member will attend weekly and bi-weekly meeting to ensure that our customers are continually informed with task progress and concerns. National Help Desk incidents and service requests are completed/resolved in a timely manner as well as work on ad-hoc projects involving different systems and applications across the Data Center. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Work collaboratively with other Data Center teams to provide input and solutions to meet business requirements. Responsible for the creation and maintenance of Ansible playbooks and other administrative shell scripting. Effectively analyze and resolve problems involving interaction between applications, server hardware/firmware/OS and storage by working with cross functional teams and equipment vendors with minimal supervision. Taking ownership of issue as assigned and resolved in a timely manner. Taking ownership of incidents and service requests via ticketing queue and seeing that the requests are completed in a timely manner. Attend meetings with current and incoming customers for technical advice on proposed projects. Required Skills: Available to work onsite at Patuxent River NAS The selected applicant must have DoD 8570/5239 IAT Level II Certification (Security + CE equivalent, or greater), and the ability to work independently and as part of a team in RDT&E environments. An active DoD Secret clearance is required to start with ability to upgrade to Top Secret. Experience with Red Had Identity Management Experience with Red Hat Satellite. Knowledge of DoD Information Assurance practices, including Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) and Risk Management Framework (RMF) process. Experience with Red Hat Openshift Amazon Web Services (AWS) exposure Experience working within a complex Unix team environment Desired Skills: Bachelor's Degree in a related field is preferred.
