Job description
The System Administrator position will join a team performing IT administration and support of a LAN/WAN environment which provides services on Windows, Cisco and other network and peripheral systems to support BPTF's mission and administrative network activities. The successful candidate will provide Windows Server and Desktop support, maintenance of network devices, services and applications, as well as user support, diagnostics and troubleshooting. Demonstrated experience should include installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows desktops (Windows 10/11) and troubleshooting and resolution of desktop issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity. Strong understanding of network and system security is required. Familiarity with DISA STIGS, NIST guidelines, DoD Accreditation and Common Criteria, and DISA recommended best practices is desirable. Some specific job duties would include: Installation, configuration and deployment of Windows servers and desktops. Maintenance and troubleshooting of network printers Periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning. Assist in tracking and maintaining IT inventory, including hardware such as desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals. Ensure that hardware and software assets are accurately recorded and documented. Organize and maintain IT storage areas, ensuring they are clean, neat, and well-organized to improve efficiency when accessing equipment. Leverage and implement automated approaches for systems administration tasks. Daily system monitoring to verify the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, system and key processes, system and application logs and verification of completion of scheduled jobs including backups. Regular security monitoring to identify possible intrusions User account maintenance as required/needed. Support for User/Operator requests for assistance on configured systems. Recovery from hardware and software failures per recovery plans, and coordination and communication with affected users in a timely manner. Application of operating system and application patches and upgrades on a regular basis per DoD and project guidance. Upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Maintain all DoD and project operational configurations and procedures as defined. This position is offering a pay range of $97K - $165K depending on experience, seniority, geographic locations, and factors permitted by law. Technical background network and system administration. Degree in Computer Science or similar discipline, plus 5-7 years of experience OR equivalent experience is required. CompTIA Security + Certification is required Must have experience with Windows servers and Workstation administration. Demonstrable knowledge/experience with network protocols (specifically TCP/IP). Experience with Server and Desktop hardware Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills required. DoD 8570.a compliance required. Professional certifications (TIA Security +,ISC) are desirable Must have a Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
