Job description

The Health, Safety & Environmental Manager oversees all EHS and security activities to ensure compliance with federal, state, local regulations, and company policies, working proactively to eliminate workplace risks and hazards while providing adequate training for employees. They also make recommendations for program improvements and collaborate with facility management to meet safety and environmental goals at their manufacturing facility.

There is no red tape in this position allowing the EHS Manager to effectively implement new procedures and ideas effictively. They will meet with their manager bi-weekly, who is not a micromanager and is open to hearing new ideas.

Description

The EHS Manager (Manufacturing) will:

  • Enhances the quality and ensures the effective implementation of safety management processes in accordance with regulations, policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Leads and actively participates in a proactive safety program across all facilities, working closely with two EHS specialists.
  • Contributes to the development, maintenance, and reporting of Wastewater, Solid Waste, Hazardous Waste, Universal Waste, Used Oil, and Storm Water programs.
  • Educates, trains, and supports operations in creating and implementing consistent safety management programs, in both English and Spanish.
  • Collaborates with risk management (operations) to identify trends and opportunities for improvement in tools, training, and processes.
  • Oversees accident investigation programs, monitors accident trends, and develops initiatives to improve performance.

  • Must have EHS management experience
  • Must be local to Andover, MA



Education and Certification:

  • Bachelor's in Occupational Health and Safety or related field, or equivalent training and education with 5+ years in industrial health, safety, and environmental compliance, preferably in manufacturing.
  • OSHA 511 and 501 courses completed.
  • Preferred professional certifications: ASP, CSP.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to interpret technical procedures and regulations.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills.
  • Experience in developing and conducting training programs.
  • Adaptability to organizational and operational changes; leadership through change.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Skilled in organization, prioritization, and detail orientation.
  • Effective team player and leader across functions and disciplines.
  • Ability to select, coach, develop, and retain employees
