Job Description: MITRE's Mechanical & Reliability Systems and Prototype Development Department is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to perform mechanical and environmental analyses for ground, airborne and shipboard systems. The successful candidate will: Work with cross-functional technical teams comprised of both in-house and sponsor personnel in the development and evaluation of command and control systems.
Perform dynamics, structural, and thermofluids analyses at the component, individual item, and system level.
Be responsible for deliverables or parts of deliverables to sponsors. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 5 years' experience
Experience using CAD software and generating and interpreting mechanical drawings
Experience conducting engineering analyses in the areas of structures, dynamics, and thermofluids, including the application of Finite Element Analysis techniques
Ability to scope and perform mechanical engineering tasks autonomously
Ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance
This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site Preferred Qualifications: M.S. and/or PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
Experience working collaboratively in a team environmental and demonstrated excellence and effectiveness of written and verbal communication skills
Experience with SolidWorks CAD tools
Experience with ANSYS (e.g. Workbench, APDL, Mechanical, LS-Dyna, CFX, Fluent, Icepak)
High-level computational skills in large scale simulations, data analysis, and programming
Demonstrated ability to lead independent research tasks. Experience proposing and conducting technical research projects.
