We support customers with Centers of Excellence in Washington DC, Huntsville, AL and Burlington, MA with an additional 36 locations across the U.S. Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Network Engineer to support the Theater Deployable Communications (TDC) program, which is within the C3I and Infrastructure Division (AFLCMC/HNI) and located at Hanscom AFB, MA. TDC provides communications support for deployed Air Force operations in a modular, scalable family of communications packages (voice, data, intra-site transmission, etc.), satellite communications (SATCOM) terminals, and network management packages that are tailored to meet various Air Force mission needs. TDC is comprised of three functions: Integrated Communications Access Packages (ICAP), Network Control Center-Deployed (NCC-D), and Satellite Terminals WORK LOCATION: Hanscom, AFB, MA JOB STATUS: Full-Time; salaried RESPONSBILITIES: Automating builds Applying STIGs lockdowns Documenting processes Assisting with user help tickets Mentoring junior networking engineers. Provide overall technical direction and guidance for performing requirements definition, development, modification, integration, validation, testing, redesign, when necessary, and special investigations associated with development and sustainment support activities for all assigned systems, to include performance analyses, modeling and simulation, hardware/software investigations and reliability or maintainability studies. Determine logical solutions to major problems and develops or initiates changes to system architecture and/or hardware and software designs to resolve said problems. Determine compatibility and interoperability issues of assigned systems and other related integrated systems and notifies appropriate managerial, engineering, and operational organizations of possible impacts to system mission effectiveness Review systems documentation including plans, specifications, design data, procedures and other associated documents in support of assigned systems and for systems that interface with assigned systems. Develop comprehensive technical documentation for engineering forecasts, status reporting, and detailed planning of projects. Preferred Skillset: Strong understanding of routers, routing protocols, switches and firewalls is required. Knowledge of wireless networking is a plus QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree and 15 years of experience, 5 of which must be DoD. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project. Candidate will also need strong organizational skills. Must be a US citizen. Must have an active US security clearance.
