Autonomy Engineer- OMS UCI Department: Software Engineering Location: 320 Congress Street, Floor 1 Boston, MA 02210 Autonodyne is a Boston-based software company working to provide additive autonomy to unmanned vehicles in land, sea, and air domains. Our technology stack applies mainly to the defense sector, but we view most of our work as dual use for commercial applications. We are a rapidly growing organization with over 50 people employed today. For this role, we are looking for engineers with a passion for autonomous vehicles and unmanned systems. The ideal candidate can effectively utilize skills to work on software systems throughout the backend, working specifically within an OMS/UCI architectural framework. Success in the Autonomy Engineer role hinges on being able to deploy software on embedded computer systems that go onboard vehicles and that will communicate with our remote Human-Machine Interface software Responsibilities: Develop C++ implementations of signal processing algorithms and time-critical control functions essential for the direct control of autonomous systems, such as OMS UCI Apply state machine algorithms, including behavior trees to generate safe and robust autonomous operations capable of handling various contingencies Design software architecture for complex software systems and integrate with DoD- standard architecture and interfaces Collaborate with systems, hardware, and other software engineers to understand end-user requirements and design appropriate solutions Engineer advanced software solutions for multi-vehicle autonomy in complex and contested environments, adhering to the OMS UCI software architecture framework Build, optimize, and enhance robotic autonomy software architectures for deployment on real-world systems to support military missions Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal OMS UCI standards Desing autonomy software with other software engineers that support the full integration with aircraft autopilots, datalinks, sensors, ground control systems, etc. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science or related engineering field Experience within the Air Force OMS (Open Mission Systems) and related UCI (Universal Command and Control Interface) architectural framework. 2+ years of hands-on-experience working with architecture standards for interoperability with military aircraft mission systems such as OMS UCI 2+ years of industry experience (DoD strongly preferred) Experience with software development in C++ and Python Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, frequently changing, and sometimes ambiguous environment U.S. Citizenship required Ability to obtain and maintain an Active DoD Secret Clearance Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in computer science or related field 5+ years of hands-on-experience working with architecture standards for interoperability with military aircraft mission systems such as OMS UCI 5+ years of industry experience (DoD strongly preferred) Currently hold an active U.S. security clearance with Special Access Program Eligibility Travel: This position has the potential to travel to customer and non-customer sites principally in North America (up to 40%), but global travel is also possible. Other Criteria: Strongly prefer domicile near the Boston/Cambridge metro area but will consider non-local domicile - relocation to Boston area part of compensation package, if necessary US Citizenship required. Security clearance (active or previous) or the ability to be granted one desired.
