Job Title - Engineering Manager, Chapter Leader - Software Engineering: Personalization Science and Self Service

You would work as part of Software Engineering Platform and Data Chapter Area, as part of Fidelity Brokerage. Experience in Software Engineering, Data Science, delivery, ideation and optimization along with leading Best Practices, and Talent management and Stakeholder management. The associate would have People management responsibilities and direct. experience in software development.

As the Chapter Leader supporting the Personalization Self Service and Data Brokerage Technology, you blend deep engineering knowledge and experience and an understanding of different technologies like Cloud, SaaS products, data science, Full stack, etc., with a passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing associates. You are deeply committed to improving the value delivered to our customers and can directly contribute as a player coach.

In an agile structure you will collaborate with other leaders to establish operating procedures, possibilities, methods of delivery and opportunities to improve velocity in which customers of the personalization platform can engage and use its services. You will set standards for your chapter, in tight collaboration with your product counterpart. Directly contributing to the strategic decisions and build solutions with your expertise. You will directly manage a team of chapter members who primarily work within squads/teams/PoDs and report directly to you, focused on our self service and data science objectives of Personalization. You are dedicated to helping your team grow and develop in their knowledge area and ensure alignment on the "how" of the work they perform is industry current and leading. You are committed to developing your own expertise and knowledge to bring the latest thinking to your role to empower others with that knowledge.

The Purpose of Your Role

  • Supporting and empowering chapter members, to enable delivery of increased value in their teams.
  • Delivering on KSOs (Key Service Objectives) of the Personalization Platform, including Self Service, Service Capability Extension though Data Science and model integrations.
  • Ensuring chapter talent composition aligns with strategic business priorities including workforce planning vital to provide increased value and results for customers and the business
  • Using your leadership skills, you are expected to develop engineering experts aligned to respective squads, building high performing elements in them to achieve the org goals and roadmap.
  • Proactively partnering with Chapter Area, Product Area, Center of Excellence, and Squad Leaders to:
    • influence strategic backlog and prioritization decisions related to your area of expertise and chapter
    • measure performance through established objectives and KPI's to deliver agreed upon business, technology, and people results
    • align chapter members across squads and product areas to ensure the best utilization of talent while also building learning opportunities and learning day content to develop skills
    • set and apply standards and ensure the work performed is aligned with established road maps
    • remove impediments to delivering value
  • Actively sharing insights, knowledge, industry practices and developments across the organization
  • As a member of the Chapter Area leadership team, you will help shape and evolve Chapter area wide best practices and strategies

The Skills We Are Looking For

  • Proficient in platform software development using a combination of the following examples: Java, Python, React/Angular, Cloud (AWS), Microservices, etc.
  • Core understanding of the Model Development Lifecycle, integrating models to core application services. Direct model development experience not required.
  • Experience in delivering large complex platforms at high scale using cloud based services
  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree
  • 15+ years of work experience
  • It is important that you should be having prior managerial experience of a team of at least 10-15 individuals.
  • Experience in leading, coaching, mentoring people and squads around engineering practices.
  • Proven experience of identifying and acquiring talent needs (resource planning and talent allocation)
  • It is crucial that you should have delivery oversight experience of implementation projects, should have managed development teams, should be aware of production support framework and handling escalations.
  • You should have at least 5-10 years of direct development experience.
  • Strong understanding of how vendor products are implemented, SaaS products and services operating model, supporting these services, etc. are crucial for this role. Any experience around overseeing implementations of vendor products like Oracle Apps. Ariba, Concur, Prosource, etc will be great.
  • You should be able to understand and provide feedback during the code review cycle with programming languages like Java, Python, React/Angular, etc. and clearly understand web application development and API.
  • Knowledge of personalization is a big plus.
  • DevOps, familiarity with ALM tools like Jira, Jenkins, etc
