Credit and Collections Specialist - $28.00 - $36.00 per hour - Benefits - Canton, MA

The Role

We are looking for a Credit and Collections Specialist to support our financial operations. In this position, you will play a crucial role in ensuring timely payments and resolving credit issues for our clients in both public and private contracting.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Evaluate and establish customer credit, including determining limits and payment terms.
  • Oversee the collection process for public and private contracts.
  • Manage accounts receivable and ensure timely payment of invoices.
  • Handle Bond Claims and Mechanic's Liens related to various projects.
  • Pursue outstanding debts through Small Claims when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of all credit and collection activities.
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and legal teams to resolve disputes.
  • Assist in preparing lien waivers and notices as required.

The Person


  • Proven experience in credit evaluation and collections, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Bond Claims, Mechanic's Liens, and Small Claims processes.
  • Familiarity with public and private contracts.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Attention to detail with strong record-keeping skills.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Previous experience in a specialty contractor environment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of relevant state and federal laws related to credit and collections in construction is preferred.
