Job Title: Security Guard
Department: Security
Reports To: Safety and Security Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Shift: Sun Tuesday 6 PM to 6:30 AM; Wednesday 6 PM to 12:30 AM

Job Summary
The Security Guard maintains a safe and secure environment for employees, contract employees, contractors, and visitors by patrolling and monitoring premises and personnel. This position plays a crucial role in protecting property against fire, theft, vandalism, illegal activity, and entry or intrusion.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Be the professional face when monitoring, authorizing entrance and departure from the property by employees, contract employees, contractors and visitors; communicate basic personal protective equipment requirements to all; issue protective head protection.
Assist in the registration process for new employees, contractors, vendors and visitors in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Patrol randomly, as well as, regularly buildings and perimeters to ensure security; perform pre-defined checks and ensure various information is logged; Performs various personnel checks.
Protect companys property, staff and environment by maintaining a safe and secure environment.
Observe and report signs of crime, disorder, disturbances, as well as, non-conformance to company policies and practices, etc.; Report all findings through various reporting mechanisms, the chain of command, or authorities as needed; Report in detail any suspicious incidents;
May need to sound an alarm, contact police department, fire department or other emergency services for severe situations.
Monitor and control access at building entrances; assists with pedestrian traffic flow when necessary; regulates vehicle / parking lot assignment and flow when necessary.
Monitor various alarm systems and investigate alarms when needed; Aid evacuation when an evacuation is ordered; aid / direct first responders during emergency situations.
Monitor video cameras and operate video equipment; Save appropriate video finding for various investigations and non-conformance.
Communicate internally up, down, and across the organization, as well as, externally. Communication methods may include the use of e-mail, two-way radios, cell phone and land lines.
Performs various inspection including but not limited to, first aid, fire extinguisher, AED, Spill Kit, Emergency eye wash/drench shower, heaters, roof hatches, overhead doors, access doors, etc.
Documents and communicates daily activities on a daily shift report
Reports defects found in the environment; may require contacting maintenance immediately or filing a work request electronically.
May need to issue warnings of policy / procedure infractions.
May assist delivery of training or messages.
Drive various company vehicles when required.
Act lawfully in direct defense of life or property.
Assist others during medical emergencies; May perform first aid, CPR or utilize an AED (once trained)
Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Although this position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, the position works in a collaborative environment. The position collaborates with other leadership and acts as a coach to others as they are trained. The position will also train other leadership on various methods of standard work enabling them to deliver training (Train the Trainer). The position may lead ad-hoc or pilot teams when developing standardized work / training.

Basic knowledge of the following technical skills to include MS Office, SharePoint, Database Applications, Video Application, others as required
Knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols
Surveillance skills, incident investigation, as well as, attention to detail
Second language a plus: Especially Spanish, French Creole, French.

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Higher education and safety or security certifications are also a plus.
Maintain valid state issues motor vehicle license.
First Aid, CPR, AED certification or trained. We will train an appropriate candidate).
OSHA 10 hour or 30 hour coursework completion preferred

Navigating distances and times:
Comfortably navigate a security round per hour. Rounds can vary from 1/8th of a mile to 1+ mile.
Hourly round times can range from 15 minutes to 50 minutes of physical patrol time to protect various facilities.
Navigating environments includes:
Inside buildings.
Note: The production facility is 34 degrees, warm clothing is a must.
Outside in the elements and inclement weather conditions.
Surfaces and environmental terrain can vary from (but not limited to); carpet tile, wood, concrete, asphalt, grass, curbs, uneven gravel and dirt.
Surfaces can be slippery with, water, ice, or snow in inclement weather.
Maneuver safely up and down flights of stairs multiple times per round or shift. Stairs can be inside or outside. Ability to navigate up / down hilly terrain, over curbs and other obstacles.
Lift, carry or push weight in the following range: 5 to 60 pounds.
Continuously stand at an assigned post from 2 hours to 10 hours (with legal break times).
